Family Fun in the 2014 Nissan NV200

The Nissan NV200, commonly seen on the streets of NYC in full-on taxi mode arrived at our house on one of the last weeks of school.  I looked at it and thought, "What on earth am I going to do with that?"  Turns out, a whole lot. If you're a taxi owner, ensure that you check out these tailored options for your taxi's insurance. … [Read more...]

Bing in the Classroom for Your School

In a few short weeks my little second grader will become a full-fledged third grade girl. I can't believe it. She ends the year with a full set of teeth, a few more inches on her height and a new awareness of the world around her that wasn't there a short nine months ago. Does that mean that she needs the latest celebrity gossip pop-up to flit across her computer screen in the classroom this year or next? No, it does not.  Are we, as parents, powerless to stop this kind of advertising to our kids even during school hours?  No, we are most certainly not! … [Read more...]

We’ll Always Have Paris

When TD, my oldest was born, I dreamed that one day I would take her to Paris.  Just her and I. I wanted to do it before she turned 12.  Eight years later we haven't made the trek and there are two smaller sisters who have followed.  The idea of trekking across the Atlantic with three small girls in tow all by myself no longer possesses such a dream-like state.  Sounds more nightmarish, if I'm being totally honest.  They still act like feral cats a bit too much to make that trip. … [Read more...]

A Mother’s Day Well Spent

It's another week and I'm coming down from the high that was a fabulous Mother's day. The girls made me gluten-free blueberry muffins that they served with fresh berries in bed. My Darth Vader mug full of hot coffee and the Washington Post accompanied the spread. I must have stuffed at least three of those fluffy, moist muffins into my pie-hole before heading out the door for a four-mile run. Next time, I’m thinking of treating myself to something special from North Village Coffee—because every celebration deserves a perfect cup. If you're looking for elevated mobile espresso bars and coffee catering services, then make sure to check out Espresso Experiences. For me, Mother's Day is about freedom. I don't have to be anywhere at anytime or do anything I don't want to do. In the past it … [Read more...]

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Giveaway!

Disclosure: TMC was not paid for this post. Products received are for post/review purposes only. Opinions are TMC's only. I must admit that I love the circus. It was such a highlight to me as a kid. I can still remember going with my cousin to see our first Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey show at about age 8. We were in awe when they dimmed the lights and all our red and blue swirling flashlights came alive in one arena and the show really started. It felt like such a special night. I'm really excited to share it with my girls again this year. Another year older but still enchanted with the spectacle that each year brings. This year should really amaze them too! After all, the theme is Built to Amaze! … [Read more...]

At 8

Last week I walked into your room, which is now your own little world, and as I stepped over the Lego creations, workbooks left open, abandoned paper dolls and bits of American Girl paraphernalia I saw just how big you have grown in such a small space of time.  I thought about how eight years ago your father and I were enjoying our last bit of time as a twosome eating  out numerous times sans baby carrier and diaper bag.  We had no idea what we were doing and I remember toasting to your one month birthday because you had survived our inept first month of parenting. Rollin' with my homies   TD, you have grown into a sweet, thoughtful girl who shows joy through maniacal laughter, wild eyes and a request for immense amounts of sugar.  You are half UniKitty  and the rest … [Read more...]

Running the Distance while battling Lyme Disease

This fitness feature guest post is by Amy Pope Fitzgerald of the blog, Twinglesmom. Read her triumphant and truly inspiring story about living with Lyme disease while being a Mom and runner.   I am ultra marathoner living with chronic Lyme disease. When Lyme first invaded my body, I was in my mid 20’s with my entire life ahead of me. I do not recall being bit by a tick or finding a bulls eye rash on my body. I woke up one day and felt paralyzed, scared and wasn’t sure if I would see my 30’s. … [Read more...]

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe LTD AWD Review

Disclosure: TMC was not paid for this post. Products received are for review purposes only. Opinions are TMC's only. Car provided by STI Drive. 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe LTD AWD Let me start off by saying that I have driven four Hyundai's in my lifetime.  A Hyundai Accent and Elantra, both rental cars and last in October I had the opportunity to drive the Equus, which is just flat-out amazing.  The Santa Fe I had I only knew from seeing it on the road since its debut and never gave it much thought. That all changed when this model arrived at my front door earlier this month.  Lower to the ground than I expected this SUV is a great alternative to a minivan.  I instantly fell in love, as did my kids, with captain style chairs in the middle row and the full third row with bench … [Read more...]
