Colorful Affirmations for Mom

Mother's Day is just around the corner and with it I couldn't resist sharing this set of colorful affirmations for mom coloring pages from creator Sarah Renae Clark, a Melbourne based mother to a little 11 month old boy. They had a difficult start and Sarah ended up dealing with postnatal depression (PPD) on and off in the first few months.  I can relate. Twice. She found that during that time, one of the biggest things that got her through was being creative again. Sarah started drawing and creating coloring books to help herself on the hard days, but the books she created have now been able to help other mothers too. I love to color and I love this idea! She even created a coloring page for me. Now TMC readers can get 15% off her entire digital store until 6/30/16 (It … [Read more...]

Zootopia

I don't typically review movies or do a lot of kid-oriented things in this space anymore, but I could not resist Zootopia.  My girls repeatedly asked about this flick since they first viewed a trailer back in the fall and I had to admit it looked pretty funny. All About It  Zootopia,   a modern mammal metropolis. The colors, the way the animators created a city that comprises the habitats of all the various creatures on the planet and used their features to incorporate them into the buildings and surroundings drew me in as well as the kids.   Neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown show how Zootopia is a melting pot of an environment where all are welcome and thrive.  A great message anytime, but it’s particularly timely during this election year.  Just me?  I dare … [Read more...]

Great Winter Reads

The cold weather and unusually long series of cloud-filled days has driven us all inside this month. That means we are finding more time to take a seat and find some great winter reads.  Here's what we're reading in our house right now. 2016 Chevy Tahoe 4WD LTZ

Source: Victoria Mason It seems fitting that the last car I review for 2015 is one that we have actually considered buying, the 2016 Chevy Tahoe 4WD LTZ.  It is agreed that we are still a few years out from making the actual purchase but getting a feel for what the market has to offer in large SUV's or any other car purchase can take time.  It is a big buy and one not to be taken lightly. Our next vehicle has to be large, in charge (yeah, I said it) and able to haul the whole family with supplies for a week-long road trip and maybe even carry our beast of a Doberman.  That is not an easy find and I like to do more than just kick the tires. Driving the 2016 Chevy Tahoe LTZ for a week gave me the opportunity to think about what my family really needs for the future and that is always … [Read more...]

The American Girl Gift Guide

Every year my girls and I put together a collection of our favorite items to create the American Girl gift guide. This year is no different. Just like I would get into a flurry of excitement when the big Sears catalog would arrive each Christmas, my girls do the same thing with the holiday American Girl doll catalog.  Each one spends hours, sometimes days, looking over each item and deciding if she should mark it with her initial.  This year, the littlest one circled everything and freaked out when anyone else wanted the same toy. She was convinced only one person could have each gift. Our picks for the 2015 holiday season are a mix of accessories and clothing and broken down by age.  This was the first year I noticed a shift in what my oldest daughter daughter wanted and I had to … [Read more...]

Just Eat It

Just Eat It by victoriamason  I probably say those exact words more than once a day when I'm dealing with my kids.  While I like to cook I often dread making family meals because in a family five with three kids under ten years old you just can't please everyone. And when this time of year rolls around with extra holiday activities and festivities I find that we eat out more and more.  Finding a place that satisfies us all is our next hurdle. Where to Go Source: ElCactus Facebook page We break it down into a category and go from there.  Am I meeting a friend for a girls night?  Then Bistro Du Coin is a good spot.  Is it date night? Mintwood Place offers up some deliciously good American fare that is sure to please both H and I.  Maybe we are meeting a group and kids may or … [Read more...]

Talking with Very Busy Mama

Today I would like to introduce to María José from Very Busy Mama.  She's an IRL friend and bilingual blogger, spokesperson and actress with a killer sense of style and humor.  To say she is authentic or real doesn't do her justice.  Her videos are informative, funny and honest.  Once you read her you won't be able to stop.  She's the newest person in TMC's interview series. 1. Your blog, Very Busy Mama, focuses on motherhood, fashion, beauty, and family all with a dose of humor.  Is there one section that you wish you could focus on more?  Videos! With videos I can show more of my personality and I truly enjoy the creative process. On the flip side, it helps with my acting as I'm starting to write a web-series.  2.  What is the hardest part for you when it comes to keeping up … [Read more...]

Diesel Loves His Nutrish Zero Grain

The other night H and I were talking about our family and I told him that one of the best things to happen to us in this last year was getting our rescue dog, Diesel.  Our personalities are so similar to each other and I adore that he likes to sleep at the foot of my side of the bed, run with me, and protect me during a tickle fight attack brought on by H and the girls. He also groans every time H tells a corny joke and that is just pure gold right there. This dog has stolen my heart and it brings me so much joy to make him happy.  While I've already tucked away a few gifts for him for Christmas and we give him his thyroid medication daily we also feed him food that we found he cannot get enough of and devours in seconds.  Nutrish Zero Grain dog food (especially the Zero Grain Beef … [Read more...]
