I'm suffering blog block right now. I'm not about to write about four year-old party excess or how I'm still so stinkin' tired everyday. Somehow I still prevail and write elsewhere though and not about what I typically write on here. OK, just a little bit but go ahead, venture out and read me somewhere else. It is fine, I swear.Read about my ability to make ears at Honest Baby. I'm a pro.Find out how I learned to say 'Yes' at DC Metro Moms. It's still a work in progress. And as always you can find me writing about green items and more at TheFind. They pay me and actually have loads of cool stuff there daily. It's quite the awesome website. I hang out there a lot. … [Read more...]
The Snow is Beautiful. Just Don’t Be an Idiot.
It is snowing in our part of the world again. White flakes big and small swirl around as heavy winds beat against the screens helping to form icy drips that coat them. All around me, I hear the same thing. A chorus of, "I hate this! I'm sick of snow!" It goes on and on in a never-ending cacophony of voices that I really do not understand.I hate winter. I hate the cold, the icy rains, sleet, slush and grayness of it all. The black, bleak branches of trees reaching up to an impervious grey sky make me shiver and bemoan winter's very existence. What I do not hate is snow. Snow to me is still a magical gift. It is Mother Nature's way of telling us to stop, look around and take a breather. The snow is a perfect way to get outdoors and see the world in a very different way. Everything is clean, … [Read more...]
I Will Not Be Winning Any Grill-Offs Any Time Soon
Do you smell that? It smells like something is burning. Oh, right! It's my hair!Last night I was making grilled chicken sandwiches for dinner and I did what I always do when I light the grill. Except this time a massive fireball erupted from it and suddenly I was yelling, "Oh! Oh! My hair is on fire!" No one seemed to notice. They were all playing inside with my mother. I grabbed for my hair on the right side of my head and a handful of shriveled, charred hair bits fell off in a clump in my hand. Sick. Heart-breaking, actually. I've been trying for so long to go without highlighting or cutting it. Well, now it certainly needs to be cut but how I don't know. My four inch roots will have to stay. No one is going to highlight or lowlight broken, burnt crispies that used to be hair. … [Read more...]
Competition for the Cruises?
The transformation was almost complete. Three inches had been lopped off my hair and the Gwyneth look was being ushered in. The bangs had indeed grown out. Just in time too because I'm headed to Atalanta this week for a work thang and wanted I my hair to look it's shiny best. Then the unthinkable happened.Fringe.Just a bit. Um.. OK, that's fine I suppose until my stylist took out a large chunk by accident or what, I'm still confused. I screamed, "WHOA! WHOA! WHOOOAAAH! What are you doing?!?! WHAT just happened?!" She looked at me in horror and realized that she had gone and taken out too large of a chunk. She claimed she could fix it and I braced myself, white knuckled in the chair. I knew what was coming. Gone would be the cut I had taken a year to achieve. Ushered in would be the cut that … [Read more...]
Business 101
I couldn't sleep last night. Blame it on tax day and the nasty bill we had to pay this year or the fact that recently the news reported that the price of a box of cereal is going to go up 56% this coming year. It's cringeworthy indeed. As I lay there thinking about my lack of work lately and how I was going to get motivated beyond the sickness to pay some bills I began thinking about Arbonne.I sell it. What started out as a product review almost two years ago became one of the best items I have ever reviewed. I don't actually use that lightly either. I really truly love and believe in the products. I have seen the results and become a believer over all other products I've used. What I am having trouble with is the business side of it. The company just released a slew of new products but … [Read more...]
Blog Blast! My Ultimate Beauty Blunder
Green hair,Orange Hair,Gray Hair-It is all the same. Bad.It was late at night. I was alone. My roommates were all gone. My boyfriend was out of town. It was just me and a box of Feria, the newest at home hair coloring kit on the market. The platinum blonde color oh so tempting. I just had to try it. It called to me from the shelves of CVS and I snatched it up and brought it home. Like a junkie in its paper bag I scurried into the bathroom to begin taking my already blonde and ultra highlighted locks even more blonde.Around 11 p.m. I found myself coughing and running from the bathroom, the scent of bleach was so strong. There might have been some tingling. I can’t be sure. My brain has blocked out so much of the impending trauma. When I finally rinsed out the dye and put on the … [Read more...]
Updates
I am in a funk. Call it post vacation blues or the end of the summer doldrums, call it nothing. I don't care. I'm just in a funk. Funkified and not in a good, hey that music gets me movin' kind of way. So lets update shall we? Maybe I'll feel better at the end.1. The mole is no longer suspect! I can't tell you how great it was to come home from vacation and hear that on my answering machine. All of it is GONE!! There is nothing left and all I have left to do is my follow-up stitches removal visit and I'm sure a nice little lecture about sunscreen, etc. That's fine. My evil little mole is gone. Sure I have franken-boob, but gone are the scary cells and quite frankly I no longer feel the need to scratch out the offending area.2. Thank you to EVERYONE who offered kind wishes, good thoughts, … [Read more...]

The Product of the Week!
Yes, it's a shameless plug as I do sell this stuff myself, but I have to admit I sell it only because I love it and it works! That being said, the product of the week is the ArbonneBaby line. You can buy pieces individually or in a set. As I have used T.D. with her ultra sensitive excema prone skin as my guinea pig, I know it's good stuff. Arbonne Baby producst are all natural, 100% Vegan, and have no dyes or perfumes in them. It took care of T.D.'s lizare back leaving her no longer looking like an alien baby, but instead with the rightfully smooth skin she deserves. The wash, lotion and herbal diaper cream all sell for $12.50 each, while the sunscreen in spf 30 is $19.50. I love the set ($73.50) which contains all of the above plus body oil for a soothing baby massage and a nice vat … [Read more...]
Product of the Week!
The Savannah Bee asks the question, "Don't your hands deserve it?" It being a great hand cream like their beeswax one. I say YES! they do. Having received this cute trial sized container in a gift bag of other Savannah Bee goodies I took my time in actually using the hand cream. Then the dry air of winter settled into my skin and attacked full force. I dug the tiny tub out of the bathroom drawer and tried it out. It works! I now use it daily on my elbows, feet and hands. The light scent works perfectly for me and it goes on smooth. It's not stiff or greasy either like some other beeswax or royal jelly products that are out there. I have since tried other items from Savannah Bee such as the natural lip balm and Mint Julep body lotion all with great success. They are all lightly … [Read more...]
