The Maxi dress is out now, right? Because I finally wore one.
For the longest time I refused. Even when so many of my friends needled me about the benefits of the Maxi’s charm, comfort and ease. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I’m not tall enough and I have curves, I told myself.
I finally picked one out. The nice people over at East & Lo asked me if I wanted to check out their styles. I chose the Striped Maxi Dress in White & Black. I was really excited to wear it and dress up a bit after a weekend of being covered in paint and DIY debris.
Folks, the red walls in my living room and dining room are no more! TD’s room has been reborn with a white and aqua painted loft bed, which may include a mattress from that serta vs.sealy blog, where the closet was turned into an American Girl doll house and her walls are free from that 10 year-old shortbread yellow! After all that, I feel like its time to move. Isn’t that always the way?
Anyway, after all this time and proclaiming that I hate and will never wear a Maxi dress, what did I think of after actually wearing one?
I’m still on the fence. I need more of a defined waist, I think. It is totally comfortable, until you climb stairs too. I think if I wore one out with friends or on a day I wasn’t running around my house it would be perfect. I totally love the gathering on the top of this one and the adjustable straps. The fabric is super soft with a bit of stretch to it as well. I can’t wait to check out more stuff from East & Lo for the fall!

I feel the same way about maxis! I am a bit shorter, so I worry that it will drag. But I bought a simple black maxi from Target this year and I love it! This looks great on you – especially the defined waist! Great pick! I linked up today! Susan

That’s what I kept looking for- a black one with a defined waist or one that was really tucked in at the waist.

Your new maxi dress is wonderful and girl don’t be on the fence at all. I am on the look-out for a B+W Striped Maxi Dress myself. Your makeup is looking gorgeous also and I love the black cocktail ring. =)
And so cool that you got so much done at home with re-designing and painting.
Pleasure linking up again. And as I mentioned last week, love the new, beautiful clean design of the blog. I too did a little change and went for a much simpler, cleaner look. =) Happy Wednesday Victoria!

Aww, thanks Ada! I LOVE the new look on your blog! Those faces are so sweet too! Happy Wednesday!

I think you look fab in your maxi. I also tried a maxi dress for the first time this summer… OMG. This goes on my list of UGGS, Crocs, etc. Once I tried it on it was so comfortable I knew I would have to keep wearing it even though it probably doesn’t look so great…

I can’t believe you caved and wore a maxi dress. Don’t get me wrong, you look good in it of course because you look good in everything, but still – a maxi? I’ve never been a fan of them. 🙂 But then again, I’m not particularly fashionable and you are. So probably I’m just way off.
Victoria says
CHARLOTTE! EVERYONE this is my long lost friend Charlotte! 🙂 Yes, I had to try it at least once and I will say going up and down stairs with a maxi is not for me. And you are fashionable, I remember. Plus, you can rock eye make-up way better than most women. I missed you!!!

I really like this maxi and think it looks good on you! You could always belt it for a little more definition at the waist, but I don’t think you need to do that at all.

Oh no! I’m sorry you couldn’t find those shoes, if you keep looking everyday they will restock them. I wanted this dress and it was sold out and I looked again and they were back in stock in a couple days. So just keep check it out! 🙂 Love this outfit, love the striped maxi it looks really amazing on you. I have a similar one, but Im too tall and it goes like half way to my mid calf. So I always have a hard time finding a great maxi. I love this one though, looks really comfy! 🙂

This is my first year trying maxi’s, too. I’m kind of sorry I waited so long to give them a go. This white stripe looks lovely on you!

I get ya on the maxi dresses. It took me awhile to come around as well – I’m only 5’4″ so I can’t wear just any. I can’t wear mine around the house either, too hard to get around with the kids, but if we’re going out I love them. Trying wearing it with a belt and, I do that to give it a bit more structure. Super cute though, love the fabric.
Thanking for linking up with #RealMomStyle
PS. I’m wearing a maxi dress this week too. 🙂

It took me a long time to get on the maxi dress train. I’m short too and I always thought they’d make me look shorter. When I finally broke down and got one I really liked it though. I agree about the stairs, definitely hard to walk up stairs while wearing one.
Love this maxi dress! I really like the stripes and the fit, it looks casual but still chic. I think it looks great on you!

okay am I going crazy, because I thought I had linked up this week? In fact, I SWORE I had!!!! Agggg…anyway i know how you feel about just not totally being into your look. I have never been able to wear a maxi successfully. A skirt yes, but it took me years. It looks good on you, but it’s all about how you feel! I am going to pin it anyway 🙂
