Thirty Days of Running

My email pinged, alerting me to the fact that there was something new in my inbox.  A note from ‘Map My Run’ announced a congratulations.  I had been running regularly for a solid month and had logged over 50 miles.

I was pleased and then I thought, “Huh. Only fifty?”

Then another voice said, “Seriously!? You are going to put that down? Did you run that much in December?  No, you did not.” Not to mention the fact that many of those runs were logged on a treadmill forcing me to tow two kids with me and all their gear up and down three flights of gym stairs before and after each workout.  That is one of my biggest de-motivators right there.

It was my first of many goals this year and I made it.  I ran at least three times a week for a month.  I made the goal, I stuck with it and I claimed my reward.

Now I’m on to another month with added mileage, integrated workouts and a new reward. I’m thinking massage. I already need it.  I had forgotten how much running can ease mental tension and aggression but build shoulder stress in a way I can’t ever seem to escape.

It’s all worth it though because after each run I’m revitalized.  I’m clear-headed and I feel like this-

no matter what any scale or mirror shows me.

Reading Rebecca Cavic’s Fit Mumma helps too.

And now this?!  Wow! Please vote for me. I’m really incredibly honored and beside myself!
