There are only two weeks left of school and before I know it I will be ironing the name tag labels into my daughter’s summer camp clothes. The forms for camp had been filled out, the check for payment mailed long ago but the camp physical was still left undone.
I called my pediatrian’s office to schedule an appointment and they would only see her during school hours. This was unacceptable. I would have to get a sitter for my younger two kids, write an early dismissal note for school and have her miss precious school time just to complete this one small task. I knew that MinuteClinic was the answer. MinuteClinic’s are not limited to school hours and they accept patients during evenings and weekends, even for physicals. I was elated!
My Minute Clinic looks a lot like this one.
Upon entering we simply signed in at the computer kiosk, which took our general information and reason for visit. We were about to sit down when our name was called. The time it took us to go from the front door of the store to the examining room was less than five minutes. The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) took our forms and immediately got down to business. There was only one snag. My child’s summer camp doesn’t provide camp physical forms to fill out. The FNP solved the issue quickly and used the forms for a sports physical to give to my child’s camp. We answered questions, she checked vitals and had my daughter perform a few simple tasks. A little while later we were on our way. We were lucky that there was no wait this time. However, it didn’t matter because we had the forms in hand and the task was complete. All without having to miss school time too! Not only that but MinuteClinic was going to send me an email copy of my daughters records and a note to her doctor about her visit.
Post-hopping, balancing and all over camp physical with no shots!
MinuteClinic’s are located within CVS stores nationwide. They are a great resource for families with children 18 months and over and can be used for well baby visits, sports, camp, work physicals and health screenings. Do you need a flu shot but your doctor’s office cannot get you an appointment? Head on over to MinuteClinic with the whole family. They do vaccinations there too. I don’t know about you but I often find that the FNP and Physician Assistants (PA) are fantastic at their jobs. They are typically more friendly and full of practical advice that a doctor does not always have time to give. I love that MinuteClinic’s are staffed by FNP’s and PA’s. They get the job done with compassion and a bit of extra TLC.
We have many types of urgent care centers in my town but I am more likely to go visit a MinuteClinic because your prescription is filled right there at the CVS Pharmacy. It totally eliminates the wait and second trip. When you are sick you just want things to made a little bit easier and that is what MinuteClinic can do for you. It’s perfect for minor injuries and illnesses, health monitoring and wellness visits. Plus they accept many types of health insurance and payments.
I found the whole process at MinuteClinic to be clean, helpful and friendly. The staff was knowledgeable and worked well with my child as well as with each other. I will certainly be back in the future because their location, hours and service work really well for me and my family.
