Beauty Blogger of the Week

TMC is starting a new series where we focus on some fantastic beauty bloggers (BB) from all over the country and the world.  I know that I tend to get stuck in a blogger rut where I read the same cherished blog friends and faves over and over. I think this is a wonderful way to promote someone you might not know yet but will definitely love! Meet our first BB!

Welcome Amy, from At the Pink of Perfection!  Her Audrey Hepburn quoting blog is stylish, fun and seriously pretty.  Nail obsessed like myself she offers up some surprising uses for nipple cream that you have to read to believe!

1. Introduce yourself to my readers.  Give a brief synopsis of your blog and you!

I am a 20-something housewife who loves manicures, fashion, decorating, cooking, beauty, and improving my walk with the Lord.  My goal is to brighten your day with that special shade of nail polish, lipstick, new fashion trend, or just to brighten your spirits with an inspirational Bible passage. I am a Jersey girl transplanted to the mountains of VA with my amazing husband, and fully believe “Happy Wife, Happy Life”!

2.  As a beauty blogger what drives you? Is it products to review, a need/wish to teach or something more?

First and foremost, I like to blog about products I use and swear by. Although it’s great to talk about products sent for review, or to buy products just for review, I try to be realistic with reviewing what I use daily. I love being able to share a life changing product with my readers, usually revolving around manicures, so they too may experience it.

3. Do you do the drugstore thing?  If so, what is your favorite drugstore product?

The majority of the beauty products I use are from drugstores, I LOVE drugstore products.  That being said, I am branching off more into buying organic and natural products, some of which are not available in drugstores.

My all time favorite beauty product from a drugstore would be Lansinoh nipple cream, which I use for my cuticles. I know it sounds crazy, but it works better than any expensive cuticle cream out there! Trust me- try it, you’ll be hooked.

4. What product or brand can you just not get enough of and why?

I am obsessed with hand & nail products! My mom taught me at a young age to take care of my hands, as they will show your age rather quickly.  I would say my two favorite brands would be Barielle products and OPI. Barielle products can be found at Sally Beauty, or TJMaxx if you’re lucky. (It actually ends up being cheaper buying it at Sally’s if you have their club card.) I use Barielle’s hand cream and nail strengthening cream multiple times a day, mostly after washing my hands. The nail strengthening cream has worked wonders making my nails stronger, and makes them grow faster than when I don’t use it.

I also use an OPI hand lotion and nail & cuticle product (sold together at TJMaxx) called Avioplex at night.  I keep it on my nightstand and apply it right after setting my alarm! Not only does it moisturize and protect, it smells amazing!

5. Tell us about your first experience with make-up. What was the item?

Growing up, my mom wore only Estee Lauder makeup, so I should have known I’d turn out to be a makeup snob! Although for the life of my I cannot recall my first experience with makeup, I know I’ve been wearing it since middle school.  I am/was a concert pianist, and have been performing publicly since elementary school. Starting in middle school were regional concerts, theaters, contatas, etc. where I was dressed formally in black, always wearing the makep to match.  I’ve never had formal training on makeup application, but my mom went to modeling school and passed on all her knowledge!

6. What other beauty bloggers do you admire?

The list of nail blogs I follow is way too long to list, but Scrangie (www.scrangie.com) is at the top. She posts color-accurate swatches of all the new nail polish collections coming out, and will make you want them even if you had previously decided you didn’t need them!

My favorite beauty blogs are 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic (www.15minutebeauty.com) and Nouveau Cheap (www.nouveaucheap.blogspot.com).  15 Minute Beauty Fanatic provides excellent beauty reviews on mainly drugstore brands, and Nouveau Cheap provides reviews and weekly drugstore sales alerts!
