Today is a testament to how fast time flies and how little things can change. One year ago today we lost Susan. WhyMommy. One of our own here in the DC Moms community.
She was more than an inspiration. She made me want to be a better mother. She was a good friend to many, a mother, a wife, a scientist, a writer. A pioneer.
As we honor Susan’s memory today, please consider furthering her legacy through a contribution to the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Please learn the facts about IBC. It doesn’t work the same way as other forms of breast cancer and the more you learn….

I’ve never thought about it that way before, but she did make you want to be better.

When I very first met her, that was one of the things I noticed—how conscious of a mother she was. She was one of the best, that is for sure.

Just as before when I would see her or read her blog I would think- I have to do better. I can be better with my kids. In the last year I find on hard days with the girls I still think this way and always in conjunction with thoughts of Susan.

Yes. Yes. She makes me try harder with my kids. And my friends. She was SO present with you when you were with her. Even if she felt crappy. My very last conversation with her was a terrible time for her and she kept asking how things with ME were. And she remembered everything we ever talked about. This past year, I have strived to be like her in that way.

Susan was incredible, and she gathered incredible friends around her. I’m proud to have known her, just a little bit. Love & hugs to you.

Yes – she still makes me want to do and be better. I miss her so much. You said in a few words what I was trying to say in my overly wordy post.
