It’s our third installment in the interview series, this week it is a FABulous Journey with Shellie from The FABulous Journey. While she says her blog is all about fashion, fitness and fulfillment for the 40 and over set she shows that these are parts of our life we crave and want to update or maintain at any age. Her site is a calm and entertaining refuge in a sea of blogs that can sometimes overwhelm.
1. You blog about fashion and fitness on a regular basis. What do you find most fun and fulfilling? Are they one in the same topic?
Fashion and fitness are two aspects of life that I derive great joy and satisfaction from. I believe both pursuits add to my life and boost my confidence. Fashion enhances my personality, while fitness bolsters my health and mood. Yes, I guess you could say, for me, they are strongly linked together.Ultimately, both pursuits require a level of self discipline that bleeds over into every other area of my life.
2. Tell the readers something about yourself that they wouldn’t normally know.
With blogging, people learn a lot about you from your pictures and writing, but they don’t really ever hear you speak. I am a southern gal, so I have a southern drawl; although, it has been tempered considerably from living in Asia for two decades. I hope to start a podcast in the future. So then, I guess everyone will know sound of my voice!
3. Do you have a go-to workout or look that you always go back to?
I am a major fan of organized exercise classes, so I always prefer to exercise with a group. I am especially fond of dance and zumba classes because they just make the time tick by faster! I can never get enough of a nice pair of leather loafers (red or orange) and boyfriend jeans…cute and casual.
4. What trends are you loving this fall for women over 40? What about a trend this season that you think is universal?
I have been rockin’ the head-to-toe black look for years and it’s big for the Fall. It helps that I am a strong winter, so black is a color that really works for me. I also like the cool hosiery vibe for Fall. I think this is a perfect trend for the over-40 woman because it provides coverage, but also adds youthful sass to an outfit!
5. Name a product that you cannot live without-skincare or makeup.
I love Benefit’s Fake Up Undereye Concealer I am a smiler and there’s no changing that, so I have a lot of fine lines around my eyes. It’s vitally important to have a hydrating product in that area.
6. What do you love most about blogging?
I live in Asia, but in this day and time I can develop friendships with people all over the world through blogging. It really is neat to receive comments on a post and realize that they represent people from multiple countries.
