Reasons to Take a Leap of Faith

Can you recall a time in your life when you had a gut instinct that you needed or wanted to do something new, but you felt hesitant?  Taking a leap of faith, getting outside your comfort zone, and pushing yourself to greatness sometimes come with uncertainty or risk. Maybe you were worried that your gut instinct might be wrong, or maybe you were scared of the unknown. Whatever it was that held you back, think about why you were so hesitant. These critical (and scary) moments are pivot points in your life. There are times in our lives when our inner voice is asking us to make change happen, and if we do, then our lives can elevate to the next level. But fear often rears up so intensely that it threatens to kill that possibility. After all, you are taking a leap of faith and it is hard to trust what you do not know or see. But, when you go for it, your life can potentially change so much for the better, so we need to find ways to make taking a leap of faith easier. If I would have listened to my inner fear of the potential of being turned down in ANY leap of faith that I have taken in my life, I would not be where I am today. I am incredibly grateful that we decided to push past the inner voice telling me to settle. It can be very hard to do at the moment, but the end result is always worth the feelings of being scared and uncomfortable. Here are some tips for just that & a few ways that you might want to take a leap of faith-

Switch jobs to get more work-life balance: we spend SO many hours of our life at our workplace. Unfortunately, over the years, we have been told to work more, not less. But, this is proving itself to be terrible for mental health, and for the growth of families. Switching jobs is a huge leap of faith, but what if you get better pay? More benefits? More work-life-balance? Increased happiness? It makes that leap of faith so worth it.

Move, even if it’s not expected: Staying stagnant in life is never a good thing. If you love your home and your location, that is one thing, but if potentially moving could increase your happiness, your wallet, or could bring you new opportunities, go for it! Moving is a pain, though, so keep in mind, that there are ways to make it less stressful like hiring movers such as Star City Services, a moving team based out of VA. They do Roanoke furniture pickup and delivery, making the very BIG leap of faith (moving to a new city or state!) much easier for their clients.

Leave a toxic relationship: This is a tough one. It’s really hard to do but does not need much explanation. If you have relationships dragging you down, leave them. It’s a big leap of faith, but you deserve THE BEST. If you’re relationship is still worth saving, an intensive couples therapy may help you work out your issues with your partner.

Say “yes” to a scary opportunity: The ultimate leap of faith – getting outside of your comfort zone. It can be hard to say “yes” to, but you don’t want to have regrets down the road.

So, why would you even want to take a leap of faith?

Your happiness > everything

There are so many reasons why you should take a leap of faith, but my #1 reason for getting outside your comfort zone and pushing yourself further? Your happiness. At the end of the day, your happiness should come over most things in life. The happiness planner says, “I believe that in order for one to truly feel happy and satisfied with him/herself from within, one must understand one’s self. Understanding one’s self is not just about knowing what you do or do not like on the surface level – it’s not just about what you like to eat, what you like to do, what you listen to, or what you like to watch. It’s about who you truly are as a person at the core of your soul. This is the highest form of human need. To self-actualize is to become whole. To feel the content is to feel happy from within. However, a lot of people never really take the time to discover who they truly are. They go on the pre-conceived pattern of what everyone else in the society is doing. They jump from one phase of life to another without taking some time off to reflect. They never leave their comfort zone to discover their true self with complete freedom at hand.

Oftentimes, you truly evolve as you grow. You become more patient and calmer as you get older. You become wiser and deeper. You become more intuitive and in touch with yourself. However, you will never experience deeper joy and feel “whole” or satisfied with yourself unless you know who you truly are and act accordingly. This is why a lot of people seek happiness from external sources – outside validation, praises, and materials. They keep seeking and attaining fleeting happiness – the kind of happiness that does not last. It’s never too late to discover who you truly are. Take a leap of faith and throw yourself into the unknown, you will be surprised what you discover about yourself.”

There are so many reasons why taking a leap of faith is good for you. At the end of the day, you have to trust yourself and your gut. You will make the best choices for yourself and nobody can tell you otherwise!
