Every year we celebrate New Year's Eve the same way (13 years and counting!) with some of our old college friends. Over the years we have all gotten married and had kids. The group has grown, shrunk, changed and always been fun. Now, even our kids get excited about the annual get together that is both casual, runs almost all night and a total blast. It's a tradition that I hope keeps going until we are old and gray. This year I decided to mix in Pantone's Color of the Year, Marsala to help ring in 2015 with a bit of style. I found the red blush lip liner from Essence Cosmetics to be a great match and affordable. I like their true love shade of lip gloss too. If you want to play up your eyes they offer a berry merry eye liner that pops nicely. New Year's Eve by … [Read more...]
Fuel Up with Power Smoothies
It's that time of year again! It's time to start thinking about New Year's resolutions, hitting the gym extra or you know, just taking a brisk walk outside. All those holiday indulgences might be hitting you hard in the hips, stomach, and jeans. I have a friend who calls the time between Christmas and New Year's Eve "toxin' time" because as of January 1 we all want to detox from it. Whenever I want to clean up my diet (by diet I mean what I am eating daily, not some program to lose weight) I start the day with a smoothie. I do all types, I mix in fruit, vegetables, protein powders, flax seeds, chia seeds, yogurt, I could go on. Each type fuels the style workout I am going to do that day or rebuilds my body after I have exercised. … [Read more...]
Daily Denim

I love a good pair of jeans. It doesn't matter who makes them or what the price is for them, if they fit and wear well through the day, I'm going to wear the heck out of them. Last month I was sent a pair of Lee Jeans of my choosing. I picked out the PLATINUM LABEL PERFECT FIT Stella Skinny Jean in Rinse. They are a nice addition to my fitted and straight leg collection. They sit lower on the waist than most Lee brand jeans, so the Mom jean fear is gone, and the denim is super soft. They don't sag or stretch out over the course of the day either. I'm kind of in love with the compression in them too. Mastrum provides functional urban wear so visit their website for your clothing needs. Honestly, who isn't this time of year? … [Read more...]
6 Wicked Easy Winter Driving Tips
Being from New England I grew up surrounded by bad winter weather and people who took precautions when driving in it. The winter I learned to drive was one of the worst we had in a long time. I lived on a hill that was often covered in ice. It was no joke getting to school my senior year. I totally have my share of "when I was growing up... " stories about driving in winter weather. Here are some of the best tips I know and use to this day. … [Read more...]
Liquid & Lace
It's been a full round of get-together's, parties and time with friends and family. And I'm still on my whole "DO NOT BUY ANYTHING UNTIL AFTER CHRISTMAS!" rule. Yeah, that's working um..so-so. Using items I already have in my closet and mixing and matching is like giving my clothes a second chance and a gift at a new look and life, right? Isn't that the Christmas spirit or I have not eaten enough due to the flu running through my family and I'm just talking crazy? I love the idea of liquid leggings and lace this time of year. The look can work for many occasions and these leggings from Zappos are fleece-lined! Perfect for this time of year. Together and with different shoes and accessories you can wear it over and over again all the way to New Year's Eve. Liquid … [Read more...]

Do Work

I don't even know where to begin. But sometime between losing the house, Halloween and now I fell off the workout/eat healthy wagon. HARD. I became complacent. I would throw on my workout clothes and then, "meh..." shower. Part of me wanted to remove fitness from my site and just continue to rifle through old trick or treat bags and yell with a full mouth, "Bring on the pie and Thanksgiving treats! Where's all my holiday baking?!" Thankfully, I had some motivation come my way in the last two weeks. … [Read more...]

Paleo Cleanse- 30 Day Detox

The holiday season is probably the worst time to take on the challenge of going paleo. I fully admit, it adds an extra layer of difficulty. January 1st or let's just face it, the 2nd is more realistic. Am I right? Except that when I got the book Paleo Cleanse by Camilla Carboni and Melissa Van Dover it was after stuffing my face full of Halloween candy and with the thought of Thanksgiving coming up I just knew I needed to refine my eating habits to get back on track. This seemed ideal. … [Read more...]
Decked: Black & White

We went out and got our tree this weekend. The weather was so warm we had all the windows open while we blasted Christmas music and decorated the tree and house. I loved it. I could do without the frigid temps and blasting wind and rain that have come in that unseasonable wake. No matter. It's that time of year when we can get a bit crazed. I know I felt a massive sense of anxiety on Monday. My brain panicked with the whole idea, "DECEMBER IS HERE!!! Get all the Christmas stuff done TODAY!" Crazy, isn't it? I mean why? I should just kick back and enjoy the season. Simplify it beyond the fact that I kicked Christmas cards out the window because the idea just makes me cranky and super stressed. No professional photos done this year, no stunning vacation pics taken. Zip. Zilch. … [Read more...]
