Striped Shirt Worn Two Ways

Last week I talked about getting back to basics.  This week it is all about my go-to piece, the striped shirt worn two ways. I find myself grabbing this SheIn White Black Striped Loose T-shirt often.  It isn't just ridiculously cute but so comfortable to wear. It is so soft and long and it works with almost everything in my closet.  I'm in love with it.  No surprise. It's a striped shirt, after all. I love this look for days when I'm working from home and running around town with the kids.  I can add leather leggings and jeweled pumps for a date night look too. Back to Basics

January, it is not my best month.  It's gray, rainy, cold and I just want to hibernate and wear thick over-sized sweaters, boots and jeans.  I loathe being cold.  This month always sends me back to basics, which brings me to this latest look. Classic white button down shirt, flared denim, suede black booties and a black cashmere sweater. All items that belong in your closet because they work in all seasons, sizes and activities. Cold, windy and starting to rain. Let's go home! Winter Running Style

One of my goals for 2016 is to not just continue to focus on my own personal fitness but to create fashionable looks within fitness wear. I plan on testing out new fitness styles and brands and post-gym looks as well as beauty tips for looking your best after a workout.  Today's look is one of my favorite ways to create true winter running style.  Here's to a new year and even better you! Don't forget to check me out on Periscope (@VictoriaEMason)now too! I love the softness of this warm, wicking fabric shirt by Lucy.  It feels like your favorite t-shirt but keeps me warm on runs and inside.  It's cute enough for day wear as well.  The Kyodan running tights were a find at Marshall's just before Christmas.  I love how they fit with compression while being really warm. Deck the Halls with Darth Vader

H and I had an Ugly Christmas Sweater party to go to last weekend.  It was our first neighborhood party and the first time either one of us has actually had to go out and buy one of these ugly sweater things. In keeping with the spirit of the holiday and the fact that it was the opening weekend for the latest Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, which we saw earlier in the day, I went for it. Deck the Halls with Darth Vader and all that, right? Post-movie bliss. We ALL loved it!   I found just the right mix of holiday festive ugliness mixed with Star Wars awesome. The cashier at Target said to me, "You look like the actress from 'Gone Girl'! 'Gone Girl' buying an ugly Christmas sweater."  To be fair, the sweater was actually labeled that way.  I laughed and said to her, "It isn't … [Read more...]

Manic Monday

You know the feeling. That craziness that comes the week before Christmas when all the gifts should be bought, food planned and parties are in full swing.  It is that 'Manic Monday' feeling that lasts all week long.  Yup, we have it here too. I thought shoving the teacher gifts out the door last Friday would lessen the load, silly me. Needless to say, workouts are missed to have last minute lunches with friends.  Shopping takes the place of deadlines and long nights ensue.  Dashing about and instagramming my looks is the best I can do. Errands and lunch on Monday. 70 degrees in December means breaking out the beloved plaid ballet flats! Red and Black Winter Style

The weather outside hasn't been frightful just yet but it has taken a turn for the chilly and I just couldn't stand the thought of heading outside to do a red and black winter style photo shoot for the link up. I would rather indulge in my latest obsession with creating flat lays. They are like a little art form these flat lays.  I love the idea of using a sheet versus a board.  The sheet offers a lot more room and a bit of texture for creating your look. I won this gold knot ring and houndstooth scarf from a giveaway from Joanna a few months back.  When they arrived I immediately thought of this outfit.  It is perfect for a party or just a day at the office. Not into this look?  You might like one of these items!  I'm cleaning out my closet on Vinted and Poshmark! SHOP THE … [Read more...]

Holiday Plaid

Each year for Thanksgiving we get together with H's family and it is quiet, full of outdoor activities and a chance to unwind, reconnect as a family and with others.  I love it.  It's my favorite holiday of the year.  Even when I have to do things like make centerpieces that cause me to obsess over things like elusive white pumpkins and plaid skirts. That's exactly what happened when I found this Multicolor Plaid Woolen Skirt from SheIn. I became obsessed with it and had to have it for Thanksgiving. It reminded me of something my mother wore (with boots!) when I was a kid and it just got me.  I couldn't wait for it to arrive. What to Wear: Holiday Travel

Whether you are like me, a total planner, or someone who waits until the last minute to figure out what to wear and pack for holiday travel the key is to be both comfortable and stylish.   I am a total non-supporter of sweat pants on the plane.  Maybe some cute joggers but looking sloppy or traveling in your pj's over the age of five is not on my to-do list. Ever. Especially when wearing something as cute and comfy as this is an option. I wore this little look last week and loved it so much.  Perfect for travel days too. cozyUP This Season

It got windy and cold fast here in the last few days.  It took the last remaining leaves right off the trees and sent us all indoors for a few days.  Perfect weather for getting cozy and doing things like drinking endless funny coffee mugs of chai tea, baking ginger pumpkin cupcakes and curling up with a good book. Feeling cozy translates to what we are wearing too.  Whether you love flannel pajamas or comfy slippers lined with fur you feel nestled, warm and safe.  That means a lot these days.  Soft, fuzzy sweaters and booties pair well in this kind of world and weather.  Right now I'm loving nothing more than this look. You can also keep your clothes looking perfect with a steam iron from Laurastar. I picked up the red denim jeans from Old Navy at thredUP a few weeks back.  I … [Read more...]
