The only roller coaster I will ride.

I will fully admit that I’m not an amusement park person.  Actually, it is more that I’m not a ride person.  My kids and husband on the other hand possess a gene for thrill rides, coasters and all things theme park that I just can’t handle.  However, I do love spending the day in the park, eating all the food I can cram into my mouth (Kings Dominion has gluten free options too) and riding the kiddie rides that make-up Planet Snoopy.  Yes, really. That’s how lame I am when it comes to these things.  My kids are little and for now a day spent at Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA doesn’t go much beyond Snoopy’s world and Dinosaurs Alive.

And really, I had to go.  From September 28-October 27 Planet Snoopy becomes Planet Spooky and that equals a bit of fall and Halloween perfection in my book.

pigpen Getting into some good, clean fun at Pigpen’s!

Bigger and better Planet Snoopy is the world’s largest children’s area. As Planet Spooky everything is the same but with a whole lot of pumpkin patch painting, a sweet petting zoo (Teacup pigs! I wanted to take one home!) right next to a foam-filled pit of bubbles called Pigpen’s Wash, pedal tractors, a hay maze that we flew through on our way to Woodstock’s Whirlygigs ride and so much more.  Kids can pick up trick or treat bags at the entrance and can pick up tiny toys at the new Planet Spooky stations throughout the area. We spent the whole day there and didn’t have the time to do all 18 rides but we tried!  Before we left we headed over to  trick or treat some more at Dinosaurs Alive, a 6-acre animatronic dinosaur park (located near The Grizzly) that features 39 life-sized dinosaurs.  The girls loved creeping through the forest and tip-toeing by the dinosaurs as they collected candy.  While The Fifth Element wasn’t a big fan of the “dinosaurs that will eat me” her two older sisters got into making the dinos roar and move.  Best part?  The dinosaurs were all dressed for Halloween!
