You only have to read the last few posts to know that I’m a bit obsessed with fall and all its goodness. October is my absolute favorite month from the chill in the morning air to the way the sun shines a softer golden color than the white hot heat of summer. All the colors I love are showcased during this time and my love for Halloween seems to grow more each year. I’m just itching for the days when I can wear creepy costumes again without freaking out my kids.
It is also the perfect time to get away. H had a work trip down south in the Winston-Salem part of North Carolina. I decided to tag along and check out the changes to the High Point area as I went to school back when overalls and plaid shirts were cool and worn three sizes too big. We tacked on the weekend and headed to Raleigh to spend time with old friends and enjoying having meals with uninterrupted conversation. Also? Meals not eaten in fifteen minutes or needing crayons at the table. One word about all that- Love.

Entire look inspired by Because Shanna Said So ‘Neutral Grounds’ post. When I saw her neutrals post earlier this season I fell in love. I don’t know about Shanna but that necklace caused some serious comments. Many loved it but others just looked at me like I had no business wearing it on a Sunday afternoon with ripped jeans. Me? I just love this look. It says weekend comfort with some needed style all over it. I paired it with leopard foldover clutch from Forever21.
If you are ever in the Raleigh area you have to head downtown and get a taste of Beasley’s Chicken & Honey. It’s so freakin’ tasty I wish I predict Beasley cravings in my future on a regular basis. Too bad the drive is so long. It was the perfect end to a long day of driving, being out in the rain and suffering from general exhaustion. Pure and total comfort food.
A Margarita so big I couldn’t even pick it up. I needed two straws to finish that baby off. H and I had such a good time touring the city on the weekend. I worked while he worked and then we went off exploring again. A visit to High Point University where I spent my first two years of college was a good way to end our time. I can’t express how blessed I am to have this time with H. We are so busy when home with work and the kids that we don’t have a lot of time to spend together to discuss much beyond what is brewing right in front of us. This trip gave us the chance to talk about our future, how we want to raise our family and do things that keep us together like go on a Sunday morning run as a couple. Here’s to hoping we have another weekend away in our not too distant future!
