In honor of my BFF E’s birthday today, I’m kickin’ it old school with some rather scary photos of fashion past. Scary in the fact that there is a white sweatpants incident and a lot of shapeless, bland clothing going on. Thank God I finally embraced color! Don’t worry E, you can breathe easy. I didn’t put up any of you just because it is your birthday.
I obviously grew up in a rural area, actually known as a village that didn’t have a lot to do most nights. E and I would spend hours taking craptastic photos of each other doing inane things to quell the boredom and teenage angst. During these times it was obviously imperative to live in a world free of color? Geeez, you would think with all the writing I did on my walls as a teen I would have done it with a colored Sharpie. Or worn something other than black and white. Ooh! I’m current again!
Here in our quaint little town we felt the need to not just carve our pumpkins and spew their guts and seeds onto a white table and into a white bowl but also do so while wearing WHITE SWEATPANTS. For the love of…
And again with a GINORMOUS shirt.
Then again tights with shorts were in fashion then and are again too. Except um.. we wore plaid or sunflower tights with some Mom Jean shorts, wait a minute. So does my neighbors teenage daughter… Sigh.
And of course, the Ann Taylor prom dress that was also, dun, da, da dun- black and white! Did anyone wonder if I was colorblind with all this black and white?
Happy Birthday E! I love you as a sister! Since we were 3! I’m so excited to see you again soon and wish you a day and night filled with all sorts of unsavory delights! Mwah!
