Need a bit of holiday cheer?  I don’t know about you but I’m feeling less than jolly this week as deadlines loom both before and during the holidays and the kids will be out of school in just a few days. There is cleaning, cooking, wrapping and shopping to do and I am trying not to freak out.  I need a few indulges that won’t add-on anymore holiday-induced pounds or leave me feeling nauseous, bloated and lethargic.  I’m loving my two latest finds. They are just perfect for this time of year.

Opening this box was one of the best gifts I could have gotten this holiday season!

Many of you know that I had to go gluten-free and when it comes to the holidays it can be really hard. Temptation to eat gluten-filled food is all over the place.  When you go somewhere and they have absolutely no alternatives and you either starve or suffer, sometimes I choose to suffer versus make a big deal about my need for different food.  I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable when I can suffer in private later, right?  Probably not the best thinking but I do it more this time of year than any other.

Udi’s asked me if I wanted to check out a box of their gluten-free foods that would be perfect for this time of year and I jumped for joy.  Really.  I think a “WHOO HOO!” was in there too.  When the GIANT box arrived I could smell sugar and cinnamon wafting from it.  It was perfect. Full of bags of granola, granola bars, tortillas, pizza crusts, regular wheat and white bread plus cinnamon raisin bagels, Snickerdoodle cookies and dark chocolate brownie bites.  That’s not all.  Vanilla and Harvest Crunch muffins plus moist and tasty Cinnamon Rolls.  You don’t even understand how fabulous this is for me.  Christmas morning we have cinnamon rolls and I end up smelling but not eating.  While everyone is warm, gooey cinnamon rolls and eating cookies and treats in the next few weeks, I can too!  I can eat a bagel or throw a granola bar in my bag while running errands and not have to go without.  It really is a gift. There is only so much I can spend on gluten-free food and I save it for baking or cooking, not extras.  I will have food for a while based off this one box.  It’s a Christmas Miracle!!

Best part? I love Udi’s.  I really do. They have some of the best gluten-free products out there and a lot of variety.  The food is affordable and more importantly, they taste good.  They taste right.  Like the food you are missing.  I sat down yesterday afternoon with H to do our budget and that makes me want cookies or something sweet. I ate two  soft and chewy Snickerdoodles and tried out the Maple Pecan Chocolate Chip cookies.  They are soft with a bit of a crunch and have a top note of maple that gives way to soft chocolate chips.  Perfection!  It was just what I needed as we went through our monthly spending and future financial goals.

You can find Udi’s foods at your local grocery store in the freezer section (muffins, bagels, breads) and in the gluten-free foods aisle.  Available online at udisglutenfree.com.  Now that I know how good the treats are in this line I will be serving them up and bringing them to parties in the next few weeks and beyond. I can’t thank Udi’s enough!

Cold mornings and chilly nights. Snow falling and whipping winds make me yearn for hot drinks on an almost constant rotation.  I can’t keep reaching for coffee and I like some variety with my tea.  I was really excited to test out Chocolate Pu-erh Tea by Numi.  It is like getting a hot chocolate fix but in a healthier way.  Each cup has only five calories and a rich chocolate flavor!

Using organic ancient healing tea picked from wild trees in Yunnan, China the tea offers great taste and health benefits.  I love that the chocolate has a blend of orange peel, organic cinnamon, vanilla bean and even nutmeg.  You can really taste each in every cup.   Numi Organic Chocolate Pu-erh Tea ($8.99, 16 ct box) isn’t the only one to help keep you warm and relaxed.  Flavors like Cardamon, Basil Mint, Ginger, Jasmine and Emporer’s, a blend of earthy flavors with hints of malt.
