I’m back from Atlanta and the wonder that is the Mom 2.0 Summit 2014! So much love. So much fun.
It was a whirlwind. When is a conference not a giant swirl of lights, colors, noise, good talks and fun events? When you plant a few hundred of the most talented women bloggers, some of the biggest in the industry, in one location (in our case it was the Ritz Carlton, Buckhead property in Atlanta) you know you are in good company, fine brands and massive brain power.
Soak it up like a sponge.
Go forth and prosper. Geek out as needed. For me, that can be a lot. Also, bring a sweater and pack snacks.
Know that what you are experiencing is the culmination of many hours of long, hard work done by some truly dedicated ladies who believe in the power of our voices and actions maybe more than we do ourselves.
I walked away from the Mom 2.0 Summit with ideas, plans, memories and a whole lot of realizations and truths about myself. I realized that I use my fear of failure and trying new things to not move forward. Pretty simple stuff. Except that I mask it all in the everyday. I say I’m too busy with life in general to really push myself but in truth if I want to make this thing the whole package, the full ball of work that I can for the first time ever actually envision and feel, then I need to stop letting my own negative tape reel play in my head. There’s no try there is only do, right? I need to do away with the excuses and lay out the plan, focus on it and tweak it all the time. That all good things come to those who plan, not wait. I need to take the time to curate not push forth without clarity. Something I do more often than I would like to admit. My excitement gets the best of me and instead of thinking things through I just sally forth and hope for the best and think, “That’s fine. It will do for now.” That isn’t good anymore.
Does any of that make sense?
I’ve been excited about projects before but never had the ability to see how all the little pieces can work together to create what I want in the long term. Now, I think it is there. So like my friend, Cecily said so well in her last blog post, “Leap and the net will appear”? I’m right there. ” I think that is true in this community of spectacular writers and creators and all the women behind the brands and blogs I love. We are all jumping. We help each other find the net when it gets hard to see but first we have to take that giant leap all on our own.
Now, isn’t it about time to check out what I wore? It is Whatcha Wearing Wednesday, after all. There’s a link-up to be had too!
Garden Party, night one.
I was in love with eShakti Brooklyn dress the moment I saw it and was so excited that I was asked to pick a dress and review it.
This dress is super comfortable, was the perfect 50’s-inspired piece to go with some black rope wedge sandals and a jet bead bracelet for the first party of the Mom 2.0 Summit. A classic southern garden party held at an estate in Atlanta, I loved how I could stick my business cards into the dress pockets! Just perfection!! I’ll definitely try another dress by eShakti. The sizing was easy, just right for me and the quality is good too. Another fun part of the brand is that the styles stay the same but the fabric or color will change every few months per season. I love that!
The Iris Awards, the last night.
My super-fun, always amazing and kind roommate Christi from Domestic Disturbia. Read her!!
I went a bit out of my comfort zone on this one and picked out a blush and black jumpsuit from Forever 21 (similar). I paired it with a wide-waist belt from there as well and the same jet bead bracelet (vintage). I like to consolidate when I pack. The day before I left I was frustrated by the lack of accessories for this outfit. I found a set of gold and black rings but no large cuff bracelet that worked like I envisioned. Then, I found a pair of SJP ‘Diana’ shoes at Nordstrom Rack. I don’t think they were supposed to be there but they were and in my size and 70% off! It felt fated. They dressed up the jumpsuit enough with their patent leather finish and I felt tall, elegant and with a nice mix of Old Hollywood and American Hustle style to feel really me.
Sorry, for the lack of detail in the photos. It was all too much fun!

Thank you! Conferences have that effect but the energy can peter out at home. For the first time I fer l like I’m connecting dots in a real tangible way. It’s scary but freeing too.

Sounds like a great event! I can’t believe you found SJP heels already at the Nordstrom Rack. I haven’t stopped by to see the quality of the shoes yet but at 70%, I would totally give them a try.
