A lot can change in 17 years. A LOT.
Proof. This is H and me the night we met. Our first “date”. Back when dates could be filed under sorority formals.
And this was the car that he drove to pick me up. A 1995 Ford Mustang in bright red.
I cringed when he picked me up that night in that khaki vest. I groaned aloud when I saw the car and made some remark about how it figured that a boy like him would drive a car like that. We were a blind date. This was no normal meet-cute across the campus quad. The rest is history. We went on so many dates in that car. I realized that this man can really make me laugh in almost any situation and smile. We took trips together and I helped him get his old Mustang ready to sell when he shipped off to Okinawa with the Marine Corps a few years later and we were no longer dating, but playing at being friends.
SEVENTEEN YEARS LATER
Date nights are few and far between no matter how hard we try. Three kids, two jobs and busy lives. That’s our reality. Cars have come and gone and we found ourselves with another Ford Mustang, a 2015 Coupe GT 5.0, to take out for a spin just the two of us.
Gorgeous, isn’t she? But you know what they say about the best laid plans. It just didn’t work out weather-wise(torrential rains all night long) or driving-wise (my fault, not the car). A few days later another pretty Mustang showed up in my driveway. I also saw a classic Mustang rebuild in one of my neighborhoods driveway,
I used it like any mother of three would do. Alone. I drove myself to see a great summer flick with a friend and to take our oldest to camp down South. We cranked the music and let the windows down to experience summer in a beautifully fun car. But H and I still needed a date night. No sitter in sight and only two kids for the night, date night got real. 2015 style.
Custard with the kids on a gorgeous summer evening. We took the back roads and played the music loud and loved the chance we had to be together as a family of four.
All those years later and while so much has changed many things have stayed the same. He still makes me smile.
And what did I think of the fully redesigned Ford Mustang Coupe in Deep Impact Blue Metallic? I make no claims that this is a family car despite a roomy trunk, which did hold a week’s worth of groceries with room to spare. The interior is fresh and fun with easy to use navigation and a great display that makes driving easier. Not to mention the side mirror blind spot alerts that are always a blessing in DC driving.
The slender redline Recaro leather seats are a sporty touch that makes you feel like your ready to race. There are a lot of small touches that make the Mustang Coupe fun to drive and look at, including the pony that illuminates the pavement of the driver and passenger doors after you exit the vehicle or the tri-bar taillamps that with signature LED lighting. This car offers a real good time and excellent acceleration. Perfect for passing trucks on a busy I-95 corridor. You expect nothing less with a Mustang. MSRP on the reviewed model which includes all options is $39,780. Base price $29,300.
Want to buy a car? ZeMotor showcased a sporty Chevrolet HHR SS that I couldn’t resist. The website made it easy to view the car’s specifications and connect with the seller to discuss the purchase.
