How to Pack for Disney

Traveling to Disney involves a lot of details. From booking a hotel near Disney to packing your things, there are a lot to think about. I still remember the agony of planning our first trip. Then I clued into the fact that using a travel advisor was one of the best ideas I have ever had and free! Being sent a copy of The Complete Walt Disney World 2017 was just icing on the cake.  How to pack for Disney is a whole other deal.

Especially for me, Little Ms. I Want to Be Comfortable and Look Good Too.

I decided to tackle the task by using my closet and Maven to figure out my best looks and stay organized. I still follow the color palette rule and other ‘how-to pack’ plans as well.

What’s Maven?

With Maven, I don’t just create a board and am done with it. I keep a record of what I’m planning and mix and match items from my own closet and make sure I don’t forget what I’ll need. It’s a virtual list come alive and I love it.  It’s also neater than throwing everything on my bed or floor while I figure out what goes with what when I plan my outfits.

A few things about Maven.  And no, this isn’t sponsored.  I just am loving this new program and I can’t stop playing with it. Maven earns you money each time you share a board and people shop your products.  The commissions are higher than a lot of similar sites with faster payout times too.

Now about that packing plan for Disney.

  1. Find a color palette that allows you to mix and match a lot of different looks with a few pieces. I chose black and white. I’m a minimalist as we all know.
  2. Pack 2-3 pairs of shoes only.  I’m squeezing in a pair of my Havaianas for the pool but most days I’ll be walking around in my Converse.  Comfort is key when you are logging all those miles walking through the parks.

3. We are flying there so I will have my Crossbody Bag that I’ll tour the parks with each day and my carry-on tote for going there and back.  I’m a mom of three I need to stash all the chargers, a lightweight sweater, a few odds and ends and snacks to get us through the flight.

4. Now that you have your color palette selected you can narrow down your clothing selections. I like to pick black and white and add pieces in gray, navy or pops of color that make me feel good.  Green and aqua usually do the trick.

5. Finally, take a look at the pile (I know you have one!) you have created.  Narrow it down to an outfit a day with one top and bottom for an extra stay or any accidents that might occur.  Do you feel good in these clothes?  Are the items right for the weather?  Will they work with the plans you have in place? Disney or not, nothing ruins a day than new shoes that aren’t broken in or a top with a strap that won’t stay put. If you are feeling confident, then you are good to go. Pack that bag!

If you travel enough this will become second nature.  I know I used to and it came right back to me this summer when I started doing it again.
