They say many designers and fashion editors wear a uniform. A certain combination of clothing that is a mix of form, function and style. I have a uniform too.

For as long as I can remember I have loved button down shirts. It can’t be a tunic or pullover. It has to be a straight up button down. French cuffs? Yeah, I’m fine with that. But I just LOVE a button down– tucked in a variety of ways or not at all. When I’m unsure of what I want to wear, the button down never fails me. It’s my uniform.
Do you have a uniform?
I love a good button down shirt with jeans, slip on sneakers, ballet flats or even heels on some days. The beauty is in the button down. It makes me feel both efficient and sexy all at the same time and with the shift of a button.
Throw a sweater over the top for texture and color. Wear a blazer in velvet or for a pop of color. Floral blazers are big this spring and update the classic look. Rocking neutrals will never wear you wrong.
Adding vintage gold bracelets is both classic and dresses it up.
A swipe of red lip gloss punches up the look while still maintaining a classic look.

Do it!! I’ve picked some great ones on the Maven board. The blue checked one is fantastic.

I don’t have a uniform really, but I did when I was working. Then it included either a blazer or cardigan. But now that I’m retired, I love being able to switch it up more! Although I have been trying to take some of those same items and work them into my life now. Life the cardigan…we are just using it differently this week!!

I get that! I definitely revert to my uniform on the days I’m indecisive on what to wear. It’s a no brainer. The days where that doesn’t even works I should just go back to bed.

I feel that I used to have a uniform, but I’ve lost it somewhere along the way. Maybe when I started staying at home? Hoping this Spring to get some new basics that I love. Thanks for the inspiration!

Spring is a great time to start, Colleen. Find some fun items in lighter shades or basic blue and white and go from there. Thank you for stopping by!

Love these looks. I totally have a uniform too and it kind of makes life so much easier. Your signature look is always just a combo of those classic pieces. Spend less time thinking, look great.
