Detox & Revive Sore Muscles

I’m a fitness motivator, an online fitness coach. It’s what I do and it is who I am in a lot of ways because it comes naturally to me. What does that mean? It means I am all about helping others find exercise programs that they love and that bring real results. I also help them learn to eat clean and healthy. It means that I am a product of the product. It means I have to detox and revive sore muscles too.

I was into the habit of taking detox baths 2-3 times a week last year. This was when my Lyme disease was at its peak. I was my sickest and detox baths were part of my regular treatment. They relieve soreness from the muscles and as a fitness coach, it helps a ton! As I felt better physically I stopped this practice. I had coincidentally finished with doing two programs consecutively that required me to foam roll my body on a regular basis. Once those were done and I moved on to workouts without built-in foam rolling days I slipped and let the practice go.

What Happened?

OUCH! That is what happened. I workout 5-6 days a week. I do full-body workouts and sometimes walk or run during the week too.  It’s a lot.  And yet I wasn’t doing the self-care (I loathe this term) to detox and revive sore muscles.

I LOVE these Epsom salts for my detox baths.  Drop-in some relaxing or reviving essential oils and “Aaah”. Total relief. I stick to basic foam rollers but want to pick up one of the ridged ones soon. They are all life-saving and really work! My husband loves the trigger point cane too.

After stopping these practices my calf muscles, quads and hips got so tight I had circulation problems. The muscles burned constantly. I freaked out thinking it was a new Lymes symptom. Nope! It was not listening to my own advice that I give my clients.  It was not practicing that dreaded word, ‘self-care’.   I’ve learned my lesson now!
