What to Pack for a Four Day Trip

I have a four-day trip planned later this week I will be flying for two days and working for two days.  I created this ‘What to Pack for a Four Day Trip’ piece to help me pick out what to wear as well as help you too.

I plan to keep everything condensed to a carry on bag.  I will have my work bag and a cross-body purse as well.  That’s it.  Two pairs of shoes and I’m done. And yes, this does include activewear to actually be active in.

First, I love this Calpak bag. It’s been one of the best items I have ever bought from Shopbop. It becomes the bag everyone wants to use when they have a quick trip too.  Do you want compliments from flight attendants? Then you need to get this bag!

I’ll be using these bags as well. I like to keep things contained and well-organized.

I will probably wear a pair of leggings on the first day of travel in a basic black.  Then I’ll use them again to do yoga while I am on my trip. I don’t love it but I do love having a lighter bag and room to pack items I might pick up on my trip that I want to bring back home.  I’ll pack two sports bras, socks, and sneakers. I also want to bring my Delta Sigma Theta crossing jackets for my mornings when I need to step out of the room for a bit. Add in a set of pajamas and an extra shirt (just in case) and I’m about done.

The only thing I need to do is figure out what to wear to the auto show I’ll be attending.  It’s two days on a track and I’ll need comfortable walking shoes and layers.  This is where I tend to lose my mind and overpack.  It’s like I forget what 70 degrees feels like and don’t know how to layer light.  I’m thinking of packing two lightweight sweaters with tanks underneath plus two pairs of jeans. Throw in my roll-up toiletry bag and I am set to go.  Oh, and snacks. Always with the snacks.

Do you have a must-have bag for travel or items you need to bring with you on each trip?

Depending on where I’m going , my kit is similar to yours. I have a really hand travel pouch for camera chargers, ear phones etc that I wouldn’t be without xx

I have a separate pouch with multiple interior pockets that I use for chargers and ear buds, etc. I love the hard pouch idea!

Ha! I had to laugh at your comment “it’s like I forget what 70 degrees feels like.” I am right there with you. But things like humidity can make such difference. In the desert, 70 is cool in the shade. 70 with significant humidity is way different.

I always try to pack light. I don’t want to spend a lot of time thinking about clothes when I’m at my destination. I just want to wear what I’ve planned. But that’s easier on some trips than others.

That is so true! I was in Austin and in the shade it was cool! I was so glad I had packed a very light layer to go over my shirt.
