Work Out to Work Better

Ask yourself this question. Do you do it to stay fit or just fit into your pants?  Are you maintaining or achieving? Do you do it to perform better or just like the challenge of taking a new class or getting to the next level? Think about what you just read.  There's a correlation between how you work out and how you work and perform at your job.  If you are just biding time, getting in your 30 minutes in on the treadmill, so that you can say you 'hit the gym' then you might be doing the very same thing at the office or on the job. You clocked your hours, have a few power days, but overall you are coasting along. Did you ever consider how if you push yourself harder at the gym you might approach your work differently? Maybe you'll decide to make a leap to something new or … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day Outfits

I had to do a few Valentine's Day outfits, I just couldn't resist. I love all the bright, fresh color that explodes all over what has been an incredibly gray and rainy winter so far.  I know I could use an infusion of some pinks, reds and a bit of sparkle too. My Little Mistress Valentine's Day Outfit board can provide it. It's short and sweet and totally complete.  Some bodycon dresses, a few pops of color with heels to dress up your favorite LBD (blace lace and curvy too) and a touch of glam as well. I'm always on the hunt for a place to find something beyond my mall.  To add a new place online that offers something different than my usual finds and places to shop. Little Mistress is where it is at this season. I'm besotted with their jumpsuits and their floral dresses for spring … [Read more...]

3 Ways to Work Smarter

I said it before and I will keep saying it.  2017 is all about the hustle.  That means working smarter is absolutely imperative.  This video I created just for you my lovely readers is all about 3 ways to work smarter and be more productive and it applies to all areas of life. Some days I feel like a shark swimming through the water. My goals are like tiny drops of blood that I'm tracking down and tackling one by one, day by freakin' day.  Chomp!   Bonus tip! Each day I write out my tasks for the day and check them off as I complete them.  At the end of the day I'm writing down all my accomplishments in a notebook. That notebook is for accomplishments ONLY.  It helps to keep me accountable but also to see the progress I'm making in small ways that add up to the bigger … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Gift Guide

I love all the pink puffy heart parts of Valentine's Day. The red decor.  The candy.  The pop of color in an otherwise dull winter.  Long ago, when I was in high school I created my own valentines and gave them out to my friends to help brighten their day. Now, I just hope that I don't eat all the chocolate that comes into my house via the kids. BUT, I felt we needed to address the V-Day Gift Guide sitch. This gift guide isn't about you or is it? Gift giving is about what the gift receiver wants. Honestly, Valentine's Day for guys? It's kind of a joke. It's lame. They don't care about shaving sets or candy.  Another pair of heart-printed whatever?  Nope. So, file this under racy and check out my picks from 3Wishes.com, a lingerie site that caters to a wide variety of tastes and … [Read more...]

What I Wore: Instagram Style

What I wore: Instagram version because I am F-O-C-U-S-E-D. Focused.  Goals mapped out.  Vision board created (yes, really), accomplishment notebook and pages are being written.  I'm busier and quieter than ever, social media-wise, but I'm feeling good.  I'm excited again and that in and of itself is motivating! Staying informed on digital trends, like those shared by The Marketing Heaven, helps maintain focus while exploring new opportunities in online platforms. Lunch with a friend and a side of networking.  Practiced my staging skills for flips too. It ended up being too warm for even the trench coat but I was overjoyed that I could drag it out of the closet. I adore this trench.  I have bought a few in the past and while I like them they don't have the liner, the shape and perfect … [Read more...]

Disney Movies for 2017

If I could, I would spend much of my day in front of a movie or TV screen.  Some days I walk around with my tablet or laptop watching something as I cook, clean or even batch work.  I told you before that 2017 was the year I was going to incorporate some of my #geek on you. That brings me to Disney.  They typically bring it each year, but 2017 looks like a tsunami of AWESOME when it comes to family and kid fare. I can't wait!  Let's see what is in store, shall we? First up- Beauty & the Beast My girls are so excited for this one.  Arriving in theaters March 17.  My oldest is beside herself that "Hermione" is playing Belle.  While she was never a Disney Princess girl, Belle is her favorite because of her "love of books and her empathy towards others".  She told me this … [Read more...]

Rent the Runway

I've used Rent the Runway quite a few times and it has never failed me. Whether it is a gala, cocktail party or last minute request their selection and customer service has always been on point. Even when a dress or two hasn't been available to me they have reached out via phone and email to make sure I was happy and offer up items that might work for me.  When that hasn't worked they have allowed me to choose multiple dress styles and various sizes to compensate at no additional cost. When H announced his winter work party would be in a week I had to fire up my Rent the Runway account again.  I chose a basic black lace dress by Nicole Miller. It has a long sleeves, which is perfect for Janauary temps, and the nude lining underneath holds you in to create a nice line.  After a busy … [Read more...]

But First, Gangster Rap & Some Activewear

But first, gangster rap.  Yup, that's me. When I'm feeling down. Gangster rap. When I'm feeling angry and like the world is full of injustice. Gangster rap. When I'm having a kick ass day and full of hustle?  Gangster rap, please. To be truthful, I'm just a hip hop fan all around.  Throw in some disco and funk and that's pretty much what makes my little musical world go round. So when I saw this shirt on Facebook I knew it had to be mine.  H gave it to me for Christmas and while I know I'll wear it under a blazer or hanging around the house or WHEREVER because I LOVE IT, it also makes a great activewear piece.  And really?  What's better to workout to?  Pop music? Not for this girl. I picked up these 3/4 leggings at Shopbop in December. I was feeling the red color hard.  They … [Read more...]
