Pasties and All

It's the season before I put on self-tanner! Come take a gander at my pasty gams! I no longer tan unless it comes from a tube or bottle and I just haven't thrown that into my daily routine yet. I'm trying my best to shop my own store called my closet these days because I really don't need anything. I came up with this look fast Monday morning as I scrambled out the door. I wore gladiator style sandals most of the day but changed into my wedge heels for the pictures. I think the sandals were a better fit. It might be my mission this season to find a way to wear these TOMS in a way I like.  I have had them for years and never can quite figure out what to do with them.   SHOP THE LOOK Black Forever21 Top (similar)/Merona Eyelet Shorts (similar) (similar)/BIG … [Read more...]

Manageable Monday

"sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day whispering 'I will try again tomorrow'." -Winston Churchill This morning I poured water into my coffee instead of cream. Then I stuck my toast in the toaster and never turned it on. I drove the Third Element to preschool and received an email that the school didn't have power today. As the sun shone brightly overhead promising our first 80 degree day I decided to just lower my expectations and drove us home. Today, it is only about making things manageable because clearly soaring new heights will have to wait until tomorrow and this is just fine. That being said I couldn't resist highlighting a great look from last week's link-up, Whatcha Wearing Wednesday. Chanelle from The Kim Chronicles showed off "High/Low: The Bee Knees" … [Read more...]

#GHSummerStyle

The weekend promises to be blissfully warm and next week will be even hotter. Before long the pool (right across the street!) will be open and I'll be spending a large amount of time there.  Wearing the same cover up, flops and sunnies gets old fast.  I looked to Garnet Hill this spring for some easy looks that will stay strong all summer long.   Garnet Hill Calais Knit Dress/Eyebobs Polarized Sunglasses Black & Square Tortoise Ann Cole Mesh Cover-Up/Gentle Souls Break My Heart Gladiator Sandals Each piece is on-trend without going into the realm of being unable to wear after just one season.  What more could you ask for? Ringer Tees & White Denim

I may just be mentally preparing myself for the upcoming summer and its laid back vibe but lately all I want to wear is a set of white jeans and a ringer tee of some sort.  Too bad the weather hasn't been cooperating so all I can do is create looks online and plan for the future.  Here are some of my favorites this week.  What summer look are you craving and planning?   An InLinkz Link-up TMC’s Whatcha Wearing Wednesday is looking for Co-Host’s! Skirts & a Graphic Tee

It's not just last week's link up that had an array of graphic tee's paired with skirts but all over the online fashion community.  Whether it is a midi-length or skater skirt the casual and decidedly feminine look of the skirts mixed with the graphic t-shirt of your choice has become a go-to spring look.  We saw it last year but it has blossomed into full bloom for 2015. Just last week during the link up we saw these variations. Sandy a la Mode A Lovely Little Wardrobe Regally Soled I'm such a fan of this look for every day and weekend looks. It works in so many occasions and can be layered easily. Dress it up with a clutch and heels, throw on a sweater, denim jacket or blazer and add flats for a more casual take. It's effortless chic with a bit of fun thrown in.  The graphic … [Read more...]

Heading into spring cleaning season, there is no better time to consider tuning up your car by making sure you are equipped with everything you need to drive safely and maintain your vehicle’s condition over time. The words “expensive” and “stressful” are often top of mind when car owners think about servicing their vehicles. National automotive expert Barbara Terry says that doesn’t have to be the case. Barbara is partnered with Cars.com to provide the information people need to make confident decisions when it comes to dealing with their cars. Share a Look. Share a Haircut.

There was a time when I wore a lot of black and it was totally a depiction of what was going on inside was showing on the outside.  I changed my hair color a lot and never felt comfortable in my own skin.  I didn't feel confident in anything and so when someone started telling me what to wear and especially how I should never wear my human hair wigs, I didn't even blink. That's right.  The classic pony tail was never allowed to happen on my head.  Always down.  Never up.  It was a sure sign of subliminal defiance when I broke things off and wore a bun in my hair one spring day.  Years later, while the memories are still there they don't hold value or sway like they once did.  I revel in black and how powerful I feel when I wear it.  Or whatever I want on any day.  And that includes … [Read more...]

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

One of my favorite pictures of my mother and I.  Coming out to support me at yet another race. Right between H's birthday and mine sits Mother's Day. I feel like if I don't get a jump on it while I'm planning his birthday then nothing will be available and no matter how wonderful or totally unique a gift is there won't be time to ship it to my own mother or his for Mother's Day. Which is May 10th this year in case you were also banking on having a lot more time just like me.  "I made these for you Mommy!"  While flowers are nice and will always work in a pinch I like to find something that is more personal, creative and offers value to the world and not just the recipient. Homemade wins hands down.  But what if you aren't the crafty sort? I found that just like I do over the … [Read more...]
