My Uniform

They say many designers and fashion editors wear a uniform.  A certain combination of clothing that is a mix of form, function and style.  I have a uniform too. Emmanuelle Alt, Editor-in-Chief- Vogue, Paris For as long as I can remember I have loved button down shirts.  It can't be a tunic or pullover. It has to be a straight up button down. French cuffs?  Yeah, I'm fine with that. But I just LOVE a button down- tucked in a variety of ways or not at all.  When I'm unsure of what I want to wear, the button down never fails me. On Saturday I was out to lunch with my family, when a friend and blog reader came up to me and said that she loved my 'Holiday Plaid' post but when she tried to replicate the look at home it just didn't work out. Valentine’s Day Outfits

I had to do a few Valentine's Day outfits, I just couldn't resist. I love all the bright, fresh color that explodes all over what has been an incredibly gray and rainy winter so far.  I know I could use an infusion of some pinks, reds and a bit of sparkle too. I love all the pink puffy heart parts of Valentine's Day. The red decor.  The candy.  The pop of color in an otherwise dull winter.  Long ago, when I was in high school I created my own valentines and gave them out to my friends to help brighten their day. What I wore: Instagram version because I am F-O-C-U-S-E-D. Focused.  Goals mapped out.  Vision board created (yes, really), accomplishment notebook and pages are being written.  I'm busier and quieter than ever, social media-wise, but I'm feeling good.  I'm excited again and that in and of itself is motivating! Rent the Runway

I've used Rent the Runway quite a few times and it has never failed me. Whether it is a gala, cocktail party or last minute request their selection and customer service has always been on point. Even when a dress or two hasn't been available to me they have reached out via phone and email to make sure I was happy and offer up items that might work for me.  When that hasn't worked they have allowed me to choose multiple dress styles and various sizes to compensate at no additional cost. When H announced his winter work party would be in a week I had to fire up my Rent the Runway account again.  I chose a basic black lace dress by Nicole Miller. When I'm having a kick ass day and full of hustle?  Gangster rap, please. To be truthful, I'm just a hip hop fan all around.  Throw in some disco and funk and that's pretty much what makes my little musical world go round.
