All About the Stripes

This week it is all about the Fourth.  Don't hate me.  I'm packing up kids for camp, getting us ready for the holiday and I cannot stop wearing different versions of the stars and stripes.  OK, mostly stripes. #cantstopwontstop. TD, aka my clone, decided to join in with her matching sunglasses and new dress. Can we talk about how she wears those sunnies and suddenly looks grown up.  It kills me. Then The Comedian joined in the with her version. In the Navy

Come summertime I seem to default to one simple color, navy blue.  Being 'in the navy' is so versatile.  It is a neutral that works with black, white, khaki and loves pops of colors like yellow, pink and green.  Metallics go well with it and I always feel put together in navy.  That's why I was excited to wear this navy jumpsuit I got from Mint Julep earlier this spring for a date night with H. Put on the Damn Suit, Already

Yesterday, I took part in a different sort of blog link up.  The #MySwimsuitStyle could easily be pushed aside as yet another attempt at us telling ourselves we are beautiful no matter what so just wear the damn swimsuit already posts.  Each summer we do it, am I right? Welcome with Black & White

This weekend we had our housewarming party.  After weeks of working on small projects, finalizing a menu and looking for affordable portaloo costs we were set to welcome our friends and have a good time.  Not a single photo was taken.  I kind of can't believe that.  It will now exist in the fuzzy realm of my memory.  It was a whirlwind and a totally good time. Jump!

Memorial Day weekend and my birthday always coincide.  This year, after much feasting, relaxing and getting in three separate runs (bliss!) I also got to spend the day with H.  How did I decide to spend my latest and greatest day? In a jumpsuit, of course!  Not one of my picks for under $50 but it totally was under that too!   As I said before, I'm always really excited about my birthday.  This year after spending two days working on our house, which I sort of love a lot, my parents came to visit and the kids gave me some fantastic presents including that pink purse. We spent the remainder of the time hanging out as a family, enjoying the quiet moments on our porch and just being together. Let’s Talk Normcore Chic

Ladies, I have a confession to make.  I am super camera shy.  While I adore a great photo of myself I do not love being in front of the camera. It is my least favorite part about doing my weekly fashion posts.  But I'm a firm believer in kicking yourself out of your comfort zone to meet new people, try new things and continuing to grow.  Often times I do this in haste and then later realize that by saying yes to that new experience I have made myself very uncomfortable.  That was the case when I said yes to chief stylist Rosana from DCStyleFactory earlier this month. Pasties and All

It's the season before I put on self-tanner! Come take a gander at my pasty gams! I no longer tan unless it comes from a tube or bottle and I just haven't thrown that into my daily routine yet. I'm trying my best to shop my own store called my closet these days because I really don't need anything. I came up with this look fast Monday morning as I scrambled out the door. I wore gladiator style sandals most of the day but changed into my wedge heels for the pictures. I think the sandals were a better fit. Share a Look. Share a Haircut.

There was a time when I wore a lot of black and it was totally a depiction of what was going on inside was showing on the outside.  I changed my hair color a lot and never felt comfortable in my own skin.  I didn't feel confident in anything and so when someone started telling me what to wear and especially how I should never wear my human hair wigs, I didn't even blink. That's right.  The classic pony tail was never allowed to happen on my head.  Always down.  Never up.  It was a sure sign of subliminal defiance when I broke things off and wore a bun in my hair one spring day.  Years later, while the memories are still there they don't hold value or sway like they once did.  I revel in black and how powerful I feel when I wear it.  Or whatever I want on any day.  And that includes … [Read more...]
