Fall Trend: The Silk Scarf

Back in the day I was all about the scarves.  Tied around my neck, worn as a belt or hanging off a purse strap or even belt loop.  I loved all shapes, sizes and colors. I spent a lot of money at Echo in high school. If I traveled somewhere I was probably going to bring back a scarf to remember my trip.  While infinity scarves have hogged the limelight the last few seasons a new scarf style has demanded we take another look at it and it isn't the long and skinny 70's style scarf either.  The silk scarf. That sweet little square, my absolute favorite of all the scarves, is back! Ripple Effect

Sometimes a girl just needs to feel pretty. That was exactly how I felt on Saturday as H and I got ready to go into the city for my birthday dinner celebration.  A gorgeous night out, strolling around the leafy sidewalks, eating delicious food and having hours of uninterrupted conversations. Something that is all too rare for us these days.  I don't know about the rest of you couples with young kids, but it totally turns my perspective around when I get that time with him.  I've already scheduled a date night for later this month.  It may not exactly be another night at Ripple, but it will be needed.   I bought this skirt from SheInside back in March and hoped I would actually be able to do more than stare at it in my closet.  When I picked the place for dinner … [Read more...]

Feeling the Blues

Not exactly what you would expect from someone feeling the blues, right? Don't worry. I'm not. While I'm often too quick to see the negative (Damn my New England pessimistic roots!) I'm just really feeling the cool tones of this light blue oxford shirt when paired with distressed denim shorts. It makes me feel like summer is fast approaching and that's my favorite time of the year. It brings to mind the best of New England and memories of summers much like this.   Watch out! It will be here before we know it!  Memorial Day is this weekend! I love these slides with the pointed toe.  They add a different, slightly more dressed up version of the slip-on sneaker that you don't see that often.  While I'm wearing them with distressed denim shorts they look great with any … [Read more...]

Signature Style

Having a signature style, something that it totally you, is important.  It brings confidence when dressing and making decisions when styling anything from you to your home from the living room to your room that can have a big and organized wardrobe thanks to Mr Wardrobe services as well.  I've been told I'm hard to shop for and while I hate to believe that since I showcase so much of what I love right here on TMC, it might be true.  My signature style is classic chic with a bit of an edge thrown in some days. … [Read more...]

Leather & Lace

A few weeks back I sent out a plea for help with my outfit for H's work winter social.  I wanted something with a bit of an edge, something suitable and versatile and also, warm. Because let's face it the Capital has been C-O-L-D lately.  It doesn't suit me but I can't change it. I was in love with this over the knee leather skirt from Boohoo- … [Read more...]

Winter Neutrals

It is truly the dead of winter. A perfect time for showing off winter neutrals. The winds have been whipping around all day and night in between bouts of freezing rain, snow flurries and total downpours. No matter. I'm cozy and warm in our new place and wearing this truly fantastic faux fur scarf. … [Read more...]

Crunch Time

It's crunch time! The last week in our home. We move on Thursday, so if you are reading this then you know I'm packing up the last bits and pieces of our life here and trying to make my kids eat some interesting concoction so I don't have to move ALL the food or worrying about the fact that we still need someone to rent our old home. Yikes! … [Read more...]

A Casual New Year’s Eve

Every year we celebrate New Year's Eve the same way (13 years and counting!) with some of our old college friends. Over the years we have all gotten married and had kids. The group has grown, shrunk, changed and always been fun. Now, even our kids get excited about the annual get together that is both casual, runs almost all night and a total blast. It's a tradition that I hope keeps going until we are old and gray. This year I decided to mix in Pantone's Color of the Year, Marsala to help ring in 2015 with a bit of style. I found the red blush lip liner from Essence Cosmetics to be a great match and affordable. I like their true love shade of lip gloss too. If you want to play up your eyes they offer a berry merry eye liner that pops nicely.   New Year's Eve by … [Read more...]

Pastels & Shades of Gray

Guess what? More gray this week! I know, I've been OD'ing on gray lately, it is so obviously trending this season and I can't stop letting it drape itself on my body each day. … [Read more...]

Charcoal Boucle

It was totally gray and drizzling day when I woke up yesterday morning. With thoughts of the new style grunge playing out before my eyes on the pages of fashion magazines and blogs I decided to put this look together.  Wet grass?  My moto boots can handle them!  Bit of a chill and touch of wind? My plush pullover seals in the warmth! This sweater made of boucle´from Pure Jill that I picked up just the other day is going to be on my hit list this upcoming fall and winter. It's lightweight but provides a whole lot of warmth with a super soft feel. It's relaxed and can be dressed up or down, which is perfect for my life right now.  It's a touch of the gray-scale but I think that's just fine.   I can style it up with skinny jeans or leggings or add a full midi skirt and belt … [Read more...]
