Family Fun in the 2014 Nissan NV200

The Nissan NV200, commonly seen on the streets of NYC in full-on taxi mode arrived at our house on one of the last weeks of school.  I looked at it and thought, "What on earth am I going to do with that?"  Turns out, a whole lot. If you're a taxi owner, ensure that you check out these tailored options for your taxi's insurance. … [Read more...]

Finding Your Fitness Motivation

I freely admit that every once in a while I fall off the workout bandwagon. My fitness motivation just gets deleted. I don't actually stop working out I just end up shortening the duration of my work outs.  A combination of factors creates these mini-workouts.  Our daily schedule gets crowded, I lost track of time in the morning and by afternoon our schedule doesn't allow me a moment alone much less time to sweat.  Getting to the gym?  The travel time kills my motivation before I even grab my gym bag.  Three weeks will go by and suddenly I'm eating in a not so healthy way, the workouts get even shorter and then I can't even do the ones I did just a month before without getting totally winded and spent for the day. Let's face it. I'm not 22 or even 32.  The body changes rapidly but doesn't … [Read more...]

2014 Mazda Mazda3 5-Door Grand Touring

2014 Mazda Mazda3 5-Door Grand Touring Take a moment and look at the lines on that Mazda Mazda3.  This is not your standard 5-door hatchback style car.  When I was told I could review one I agreed but admittedly my expectations were low.  I wasn't feeling the whole 5-door factor.  The car arrived and I liked the color, Soul Red Metallic and instantly fell in love with the sleek lines.  The interior stole my heart in seconds. Sporty, stylish and super soft almond and black leather seats. First, I love the simplicity of this car.  The interior is refined, uncomplicated and has a display for navigation that sits on top of the dashboard rather than in it.  Not everyone loves this feature, but I did. I don't care how throwback it looks.  It was easier to see maps, what was playing on … [Read more...]

Is a Mud Run For You?

Mud Runs by victoriamason on Polyvore Last week, I wrote an fitness post about mud runs on Social Moms and a few days later I was asked if I wanted to talk further about the topic. Typically, the answer would be no. As many of my friends have waded the muddy waters and climbed over walls I have stayed away from such runs. The idea of having to pack extra clothes, and basically scale a wall or submerge myself in mud as I belly crawl under wire did not appeal to any part of me. … [Read more...]

Opinions are TMC's only.   All new 2014 Kia Soul   When I was told that the Kia Soul would be staying with us for a week during spring break, I became a little giddy. How much fun would this little car be to drive around with my girls while we did all our special activities during the week? Then, I panicked. Would I be able to fit three kids into the back of a Kia Soul? … [Read more...]

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe LTD AWD Review

Disclosure: TMC was not paid for this post. Products received are for review purposes only. Opinions are TMC's only. Car provided by STI Drive. 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe LTD AWD Let me start off by saying that I have driven four Hyundai's in my lifetime.  A Hyundai Accent and Elantra, both rental cars and last in October I had the opportunity to drive the Equus, which is just flat-out amazing.  The Santa Fe I had I only knew from seeing it on the road since its debut and never gave it much thought. That all changed when this model arrived at my front door earlier this month.  Lower to the ground than I expected this SUV is a great alternative to a minivan.  I instantly fell in love, as did my kids, with captain style chairs in the middle row and the full third row with bench … [Read more...]

The 2014 Ford C-MAX Energi and #onetankofgood

Disclosure: TMC was not paid for this post. Products received are for review purposes only. Opinions are TMC's only. 2014 Ford C-MAX Energi We all want to do good this time of year and help out our fellow man.  Normally, I do the whole donation of food, clothing and give money to various charities.  This year, I wanted and felt the real need to get involved and do more.  Ford asked me to review their C-MAX Energi and incorporate it into their One Tank of Good campaign.  It sums up to mean, what can you do with one tank of gas?  With the Ford C-MAX Energi it felt limitless! For three weeks I put out the word with friends, family, co-workers, whoever I could think of that the girls and I were holding a clothing drive to benefit ACTS in Dumfries, VA.  In particular, I wanted to give … [Read more...]

Cars provided by STI Drive.     The newly redesigned 2014 KIA Forte LX arrived at my door in sedan form (it comes in coupe and hatchback too) and I was anxious to check out a sedan that is typically too small for my needs. In the past this model was known for having good gas mileage but lacking in interior design and extras. Did the redesign succeed in bringing out a better Forte? … [Read more...]

2014 Mitsubishi Outlander SE S-AWC Review

Disclosure:  TMC was not paid for this post.  Products received are done through the automaker or STI Drive.  Opinions are TMC's only.   A few months back I reviewed the 2013 Mistubishi Outlander Sport and thought it was simple in looks and driving.   The non-Sport version driven last week is quite different.  It is still simple in looks and driving, not a whole lot has changed but the hiccups in accelerating and growl in driving is thankfully gone.  Instead this redesigned crossover SUV offers up 7-passenger seating and a less aggressive outward appearance.  This is supposed to appeal to a broader audience, but I missed the old look. … [Read more...]
