The Fashion Investigator

I'm really excited that the interview series has kicked off just in time for fall and we have a number of really fun, fantastic and fabulous bloggers coming your way. This week it's Shian from The Fashion Investigator.  If you haven't read her blog yet then get ready to learn a trick, tip or two.  She's all about helpful hints that elevate your closet and fashion game.   Source: Cottonwood Studios 1.       You write about fashion tips, how-to’s and trends. What is your favorite type of post to put together? My favorite type of post to put together is most definitely my how-to posts. I grew up with a very limited understanding of fashion (really, you would laugh if you saw my high school outfits!) and I love being able to share the things I've learned with … [Read more...]

Summer Fun at Kings Dominion

Before you pack up your summer memories this weekend why not take the season for an adventurous spin and head to Kings Dominion one last time.  The fun of an amusement park with a water park (Soak City) built into it that is also for the whole family is always a great idea when it comes to wrapping up the summer.  Just look at all the fun we had, with me the non-ride loving person in tow, and I loved it too. We got there at the hot time of the day and headed straight to the water park, Soak City.  After a few hours there we headed into the park dividing up the ride enthusiasts.  We've been to the park a few times and sticking together doesn't work in our favor.  It's best to let the roller coaster, thrill-seeking people stick together and the people who thrive in Planet Snoopy hang with … [Read more...]

Fall ‘It’ List

This is the first year that school starts before Labor Day for me or the kids. Growing up in Rhode Island we always went back the Tuesday after the holiday and I swear half those times there was already a frost on the ground. Living in the DC Metro area it is still in the 90s as we jump onto the big yellow bus. Regardless, I'm feeling the pull of fall and I just cannot deny it.   Fall Favorites by victoriamason featuring steve-madden shoes SHOP THE LOOK Fringe Poncho/Deborah Lipman 'Miss Independent'/Chicwish Cable Knit Sweater Dress Beige/Bobbi Brown 'Greige'/Essie 'Leggy Legend'/Halogen Studded Pump/Steve Madden 'Eros'/Tod's Loafer Other Options: Wine Cable Knit Roll Neck Sweater An InLinkz Link-up TMC’s Whatcha Wearing Wednesday is looking for Co-Host’s! … [Read more...]

The 21 Day Fix

I read somewhere that it takes 21 days to break a habit, get a 21 day fix, in other words.  I also read that it takes seven days.  Like a lot of dieting topics the information is conflicting and confusing.  Sometimes though you need to hit a reset button and bring you back to basics.  That's exactly what I'm doing right now by doing the 21 Day Fix*. I didn't realize it, but during the last year with the whole process of buying the house, prepping our old house to rent then the new one to move into and the actual move there wasn't a lot of time.  My schedule didn't consist of working out, working and my family, which was the norm.  It was all that, plus home repair projects on two homes, packing then unpacking and more home repair projects once we were in the new house.  In that time my … [Read more...]

Glow and Go!

I know it cannot be just me that got to a certain age and suddenly became a wee bit obsessed over removing dead skin cells.  It's not like it is a hobby of mine but I am definitely more interested in renewing my complexion now more than I was two years ago.  I've even considered laser treatment in the last six months.  Shhhh... Being short on time and in need of a small refresh I was into the idea of Ren Clean Skincare Glow and Go.  It's a great way to end your summer and head into fall.  The little duo gives summer skin a nice bright bump in the glow department.  Comprised of two products, Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial and the Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask (buy them together or separate) the set is good for alternating products throughout the week. Flash Rinse 1 Minute … [Read more...]

Pink Champagne Problems

The blogger interview series is something new I'm doing over here at TMC.  I love to find new blogs and get to know a person (as much as you can via curated lifestyle posts) and find new ways to style my clothes and home as well as sometimes making a new friend.  So, CHEERS to our first interview in what I hope will be a great series! Allow me to introduce, Dana from Pink Champagne Problems! 1. First off, why and when did you create your blog, Pink Champagne Problems?                                                               I created Pink Champagne Problems in October 2012 - I was selected to become an Admissions Blogger for my university. When it came time to think of a name, I was pretty stumped. Until one night I was eating in Shake Shack with some friends … [Read more...]
