Back to Nature

It's time to head back to nature. After spending the weekend fixing up little things in the house, getting it ready for fall and generally being busy it felt time to head back to nature. Sure, there were lots of runs outdoors but I'm talking color schemes and clothes here, people. Ready for date night with H. Olive lightweight sweater with dark denim and booties makes a perfect dinner and movie look.  This honeycomb style necklace was included in my last Stitch Fix box. I love it! It's the perfect pendant for any season and will work with a lot of looks. Denim on Denim

When it comes to parties, get-together's and events I have a tendency to stray from my comfort zone. At least in the last year or so it has been that way.  A white sequin dress for a gala vs. navy or black.  A leather skirt with a dress used as a top for a holiday work party.  This time it was a Thirty-One party I held at my house for friends on Saturday and I decided to go with denim on denim, a trend I didn't think I could pull off without being matchy-matchy, but instantly loved. I looked for daze organic cotton denim trying to find a few pieces that might match, and I really liked what I ended up choosing. Burgundy & Mustard

Last week I talked about fall's hot colors- burgundy, mustard and olive. They go well with everything. It was totally on my brain and Old Navy's when I stepped into the store last Friday and picked up this lightweight burgundy-wine colored sweater. I love the dolman-style fit that works well with a pencil skirt, my old standby mustard jeans or any kind of denim. I can't wait to pair it with wide-leg dark denim too. As much as I wanted to with this casual look, high-quality pictures just could not happen this week.  I didn't even have time for well-placed instagram shots.  That's life! I’m Obsessed with Fall

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with fall (we are not even going to kid ourselves and put a "kind of obsessed" in there).  I mean, I walk outside my front door and start singing, "It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year...." on a daily basis and I don't even drink SBUX PSL's.  Fall makes me want to craft and I'm not crafty.  It makes me want to fill the house with baked goods and pass them out to friends and it makes me want to SHOP!  Cozy knits, fall boots and booties, ponchos, sweater dresses and new jeans! I WANT IT ALL!  It's like I have to get my own back to school shopping in for myself. The Neo-Victorian

Last week was H and my anniversary, the big 14! We celebrated in true style- I headed to art class with The Comedian and he did dinner, dishes and homework duty with the other two kids.
