There are cards to send, desserts to make and gifts to buy. Everyone wants to be heartfelt and find just the right present. I get that.  Some of the hardest people to buy for are fashionable friends.  The ones who always have just the right accessory or the latest nail color adorning their fingertips. What do you buy for the person who is always on-trend?  My finds will help you … [Read more...]

Do Work

I don't even know where to begin.  But sometime between losing the house, Halloween and now I fell off the workout/eat healthy wagon. HARD. I became complacent.  I would throw on my workout clothes and then, "meh..." shower.  Part of me wanted to remove fitness from my site and just continue to rifle through old trick or treat bags and yell with a full mouth, "Bring on the pie and Thanksgiving treats!  Where's all my holiday baking?!" Thankfully, I had some motivation come my way in the last two weeks. … [Read more...]

Decked: Black & White

We went out and got our tree this weekend.  The weather was so warm we had all the windows open while we blasted Christmas music and decorated the tree and house.  I loved it.  I could do without the frigid temps and blasting wind and rain that have come in that unseasonable wake. No matter.  It's that time of year when we can get a bit crazed. I know I felt a massive sense of anxiety on Monday.  My brain panicked with the whole idea, "DECEMBER IS HERE!!! Get all the Christmas stuff done TODAY!"  Crazy, isn't it?  I mean why?  I should just kick back and enjoy the season.  Simplify it beyond the fact that I kicked Christmas cards out the window because the idea just makes me cranky and super stressed. No professional photos done this year, no stunning vacation pics taken. Zip. Zilch. … [Read more...]

Orange Velvet

A cold and blustery November day had me pulling my orange-red velvet blazer out of the closet.  I bought it a while back on a thrift shopping trip with E  (how much fun is it to have a friend who loves to thrift just as much as me? I love it!).  I kept meaning to wear it last fall and winter but it just never happened.  I love the bright, cheery color and the gorgeous satin lining makes me smile.   … [Read more...]

Working Weekend

Last weekend H and I had a working weekend. Alone. No kids. We were excited to be able to collaborate, go through the mundane tasks we normally do apart and work side by side. We don't often get a chance to work in quiet for such a long period of time. The last few weeks have been exhausting in our house. We've both been working more than the norm and it is starting to take its toll on us. We needed to get out a bit after being inside all day and for us that meant house hunting. Crisp fall days are perfect for looking for your future home, don't you think? The lighting is golden and shows off the happy medium of what it can look like inside a house. Plus, foliage is gorgeous and often helps a property look its best. As we stood in the drive way of one beautiful home I asked H to snap … [Read more...]

Gingham Shirt & Layers

It's finally felt like fall around here for at least a week now. I decided to layer up a gingham shirt I found in a thrift store a few years ago and pair some opaque tights with my freshly polished boots (thank you, H!) with a super comfortable t-shirt style dress I found at Target this summer.   It's become one of my favorite fall pieces.  It's lightweight and versatile making it fun to dress up or down. … [Read more...]
