Deck the Halls with Darth Vader

H and I had an Ugly Christmas Sweater party to go to last weekend.  It was our first neighborhood party and the first time either one of us has actually had to go out and buy one of these ugly sweater things. In keeping with the spirit of the holiday and the fact that it was the opening weekend for the latest Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, which we saw earlier in the day, I went for it. Deck the Halls with Darth Vader and all that, right? Post-movie bliss. We ALL loved it!   I found just the right mix of holiday festive ugliness mixed with Star Wars awesome. Holiday Plaid

Each year for Thanksgiving we get together with H's family and it is quiet, full of outdoor activities and a chance to unwind, reconnect as a family and with others.  I love it.  It's my favorite holiday of the year.  Even when I have to do things like make centerpieces that cause me to obsess over things like elusive white pumpkins and plaid skirts. That's exactly what happened when I found this Multicolor Plaid Woolen Skirt from SheIn. I became obsessed with it and had to have it for Thanksgiving. What to Wear: Holiday Travel

Whether you are like me, a total planner, or someone who waits until the last minute to figure out what to wear and pack for holiday travel the key is to be both comfortable and stylish.   I am a total non-supporter of sweat pants on the plane.  Maybe some cute joggers but looking sloppy or traveling in your pj's over the age of five is not on my to-do list. Ever. Especially when wearing something as cute and comfy as this is an option. I wore this little look last week and loved it so much.  Perfect for travel days too. cozyUP This Season

It got windy and cold fast here in the last few days.  It took the last remaining leaves right off the trees and sent us all indoors for a few days.  Perfect weather for getting cozy and doing things like drinking endless funny coffee mugs of chai tea, baking ginger pumpkin cupcakes and curling up with a good book. Feeling cozy translates to what we are wearing too.  Whether you love flannel pajamas or comfy slippers lined with fur you feel nestled, warm and safe.  That means a lot these days.  Soft, fuzzy sweaters and booties pair well in this kind of world and weather.  Right now I'm loving nothing more than this look. The Oversized Poncho

One of the best things I have purchased this fall is an open front, oversized poncho from Old Navy.  I saw it one day while walking by the store and I knew I just had to have it.  It looked cozy, lightweight but warm and really versatile. I throw it on to take my girls to the bus stop in the morning, while out running around town or when I'm headed out for a date night. I add a belt to cinch the waist when I know I'm going to be wearing it for long periods of time or I just let it hang loose. Either way, it's a poncho, a big trend this fall, and I'm in love. October Madness

You guys are well-informed about how much #iloveoctober.  It's an obsession that has me proclaiming, "It's the most wonderful time of the year!" every morning when I walk the girls to the bus stop and breathe in the smells of fresh-cut grass mixed with decaying leaves.  It's the best!  I call it October Madness So, when I got sick last week (hell, I'm still sick) at the very start of the week and just went downhill as the week progressed, I was not pleased.  It also played havoc on my work and any sort of fashion statements I was planning on making.  The fall festival?  I missed it.  Sitting in golden sunshine? Back to Nature

It's time to head back to nature. After spending the weekend fixing up little things in the house, getting it ready for fall and generally being busy it felt time to head back to nature. Sure, there were lots of runs outdoors but I'm talking color schemes and clothes here, people. Ready for date night with H. Olive lightweight sweater with dark denim and booties makes a perfect dinner and movie look.  This honeycomb style necklace was included in my last Stitch Fix box. I love it! It's the perfect pendant for any season and will work with a lot of looks. Burgundy & Mustard

Last week I talked about fall's hot colors- burgundy, mustard and olive. They go well with everything. It was totally on my brain and Old Navy's when I stepped into the store last Friday and picked up this lightweight burgundy-wine colored sweater. I love the dolman-style fit that works well with a pencil skirt, my old standby mustard jeans or any kind of denim. I can't wait to pair it with wide-leg dark denim too. As much as I wanted to with this casual look, high-quality pictures just could not happen this week.  I didn't even have time for well-placed instagram shots.  That's life! Stacked rings can make a statement. Leopard is the new neutral.  I love it more than ever.
