How to Dress for an 80s Party

I've said it before and I'll say it again, my neighborhood does some fun stuff, including throwing an "I Love the 80s" party last weekend. After winning best dressed I decided to put together a little guide for How to Dress for an 80's Party. I would say it is a definite trend too.  My Facebook feed regularly fills up with throwback parties and people dressing prom jump suits; when let's face it we could all be working at the school on the regular and no one would be suspecting us of being undercover cops. STEP 1: Are you a Madonna? Or do you identify with Molly Ringwald or a Joan Collins from Dynasty? I choose Madonna. My hair is short and I knew I could work with it. STEP 2: Take to the Internet and research the look. I wanted something that wasn't complicated.  Could I … [Read more...]

#TeamCap Fashion

*Disclosure: Compensation is received through affiliate links.  All opinions are 100% my own. I know, I can hardly believe it either. Here it is May the 4th and I'm showing off looks my #TeamCap fashion based on Captain America by Marvel Comics (in theaters May 6).  Who would have thought this day would ever come? When something as good as what Marvel is doing with Captain America is happening it cannot be denied. It's just that counting-down-the-days-awesome. I couldn't stop the excitement that's been building up regarding the new Civil War movie even if I felt I was breaking bad with my first love, DC Comics. When you have to pick sides I'm obviously going to go with the one who feels the government shouldn't dictate how you use your power. #TeamCap all the … [Read more...]

Runner Style

Guys, this weekend was it. It was all about runner style and having fun.  After months of training, I did it.  My first ten mile race!  I have done half-marathons before but for some reason I felt that this one was bigger. The George Washington Parkway Classic was one I have wanted to run for years and it was everything I wanted it to be and more. I was nervous about this race. I haven't run that far in a few years.  Training in the winter can be rough and that was a majority of my time on the pavement.  When I hit four miles in training I hit a wall.  My body was too tired from every day life.  I started taking Thrive supplements (which I was totally not a believer of) and immediately noticed a difference in my abilities while running, during recovery and afterwards.  I don't think I … [Read more...]

Trunk Club Review

When H started using Trunk Club last year I was instantly jealous.  A GINORMOUS box full of quality, stylish clothing and shoes was delivered to his door with at least ten items to choose from and all pre-approved by him. What the...? We don't have those choices in the women's box subscriptions.  Plus, I hate shopping with him but having him try stuff on in our bedroom was ridiculously easy and fun.  I wanted a Trunk Club box of my own! Wish granted! My first box from my stylist Gretchen arrived last week and I hauled it inside with great excitement. I knew was was inside because the preview email was sent a few days earlier and now I just had to open it, try everything on and I had TEN DAYS in which to make my decisions.  Here's what was inside: Rag and Bone Scoop Neck Cotton … [Read more...]

Pretty in Pink

Garnet Hill Kids Micro-Fleece Jacket: Style It Your Way

What are some of the benefits of your mom loving clothes and being a style blogger?  Sometimes the little ones get to pick out something fun to wear too! Like this cute Garnet Hill Kids Micro-Fleece Jacket. My youngest daughter is definitely the future style maven out of my three girls.  She takes the longest to get ready in the morning, lays out her clothes from underwear to outerwear all on her floor each day right down to the accessories.  Hair bows, socks, skirts and leggings are mixed and matched. Frequently she is seen wearing something different throughout the day.  But she was missing one key item her sisters had and she didn't. If you're looking to complete her outfit, shop baby shoes at https://www.solesox.com.au/ for a stylish and comfortable addition to her … [Read more...]

Versatile Neutrals for Every Season

I was obviously still feeling my basics look when I put this outfit on last week.  I like that the colors and style of it are versatile neutrals for every season. When paired with other styles of shoes or accessories they can be worn all year long. I had a casual meeting that morning but still had the usual running around with the kids and work from home routine going.  I knew I wanted comfort and a chance to wear some flats on an unusually warm day. Last week it was all about 'Work Wear Wednesday' for Whatcha Wearing Wednesday.  Join me this week for the link up as it becomes another mouthful to say with 'Workout Wear Wednesday': Fabletics Review! January usually has us more fitness-minded but this year I'm motivated times FOUR.  It's a big year birthday that has me wanting my newest decade to be just as fit, if not more, than the last one.  I'm training for a 10-mile race in April. I need more strength and have to run on a very regular schedule.  That's something I haven't done in years.  I want to include more fitness fashion on the regular too. To enhance your fitness journey, you should consider hire Gym Equipment Upholstery for added comfort and durability in your workout space. Work Wear Wednesday: Styling Black Pants

I have said it before and I will say it again and again.  You can never go wrong with basics.  This month I am all about them and keeping life simple and that starts with styling black pants. The 'basics rule' is never more practical and easy to follow than with work wear.  Whether you are starting out your work wardrobe, need to simplify it or freshen it up, the basics are where it is at, and no piece is more versatile than a pair of black pants. First, find the style that is most flattering on you. It may be a pair of ankle pants or a wide-leg cut. If you are like me then it depends on the season and the mood. I like a slim cigarette style cut for all year and a wide-leg trouser cut for the colder months when I want to wear heeled boots and change things up. This week I'm … [Read more...]

Back to Basics

January, it is not my best month.  It's gray, rainy, cold and I just want to hibernate and wear thick over-sized sweaters, boots and jeans.  I loathe being cold.  This month always sends me back to basics, which brings me to this latest look. Classic white button down shirt, flared denim, suede black booties and a black cashmere sweater. All items that belong in your closet because they work in all seasons, sizes and activities. Cold, windy and starting to rain. Let's go home!
