Whatcha Wearing Wednesday-Pinterest for Packing

Reposted from my column at The DC Moms.   Pinterest is the time suck, er, lovely place where you can spend time pinning your heart out with beautiful things to cook, bake, and decorate -- all in your head. In my experience, most of it never moves beyond the board. The gorgeous buffet you want to repurpose and paint in a stunning metallic grey stays on the board and not in your dining room. And when reality meets Pinterest dreamland the adorable cupcakes for the tiny tot's birthday bash never make an appearance when Wegman's has options too. However many funny, inspirational quotes, healthy meals or educational activities I pin next to this fall's hottest boot style, most of my pins just never see fruition. I may however, found a way to make Pinterest useful. Really, and … [Read more...]

2014 Mitsubishi Outlander SE S-AWC Review

Disclosure:  TMC was not paid for this post.  Products received are done through the automaker or STI Drive.  Opinions are TMC's only.   A few months back I reviewed the 2013 Mistubishi Outlander Sport and thought it was simple in looks and driving.   The non-Sport version driven last week is quite different.  It is still simple in looks and driving, not a whole lot has changed but the hiccups in accelerating and growl in driving is thankfully gone.  Instead this redesigned crossover SUV offers up 7-passenger seating and a less aggressive outward appearance.  This is supposed to appeal to a broader audience, but I missed the old look. … [Read more...]

Beauty Love of the Week- Furlesse & Mineral Fusion Nail Polish

It started with elevens and the popularity grew.  Now Furlesse brings more incredible clear anti-wrinkle patches to help you with your anti-aging needs.  Products like this are always so fun to me, a 30-day supply is downright affordable at $19.99 and you can wear them while you sleep (definitely!) or while you are commuting to work, working from home or just getting ready for a night out.  I'm one of those weirdos that worries about the fact that I sleep on the same side of my face all the time and the wrinkles that can cause.  Furlesse patches hold skin in place while you sleep and help keep those deep, pressure lines away.  They go on really easy and just peel off.  So simple!  If you went nuts over pore strips or peel off facial masks then you will love Furlesse!  Buy a whole set or … [Read more...]

What We Are Reading Right Now

I will fully cop to the fact that I pick up seasonally appropriate books for the kids at the library each year. I also pull any turkey, fall or Thanksgiving-related books off their bedroom bookshelves and out front and center to read at bed and nap times.  I do the same thing for Christmas, Halloween, Easter and birthdays.  I'm kind of a freak.  If I were to let it go further I would place them all in a basket in the living room as well.  Crazy, much?  Yes, I think that is. Right now the Christmas books are being pulled out whether I'm ready to read them or not.  This one is our latest and greatest. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday – Hints of Caramel

Caramel cake infused with caramel syrup, topped with caramel buttercream frosting.  I've been dreaming of this cake and waiting for the right time to make it.  I've been given the task of making dessert the night before Thanksgiving when a lot of the family is already together.  Meaning it is finally caramel cake time! I can only say it must be the inspiration for this week's Whatcha Wearing Wednesday look too. … [Read more...]

OshKosh B’gosh for the Holidays & More (Sponsored #MC)

Disclosure: I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for OshKosh B’gosh. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping trip and to thank me for participating. It's the holiday season.... I can hear the tune playing in my head as I think about what the girls will wear this upcoming Thanksgiving.  While the youngest girls are pretty set for picture worthy clothes my oldest is becoming harder to buy for and I am often torn between what I think is cute and age-appropriate and what she desires.  Luckily for us we received a $100 gift card from Oshkosh B'gosh to help us get through our first round (of many, I'm sure) in this new stage of life and we both seem pretty happy with the results. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday – Style Link-Up with Tres Chic Thursdays!

Let's just start out by saying that this oufit you are seeing was not what I planned. Then again, I don't plan on having 70 degree days in mid-November! I was zipping up my high brown riding boots when I just thought, "Ugh. I just can't do it. It's too much. I will incinerate." Off it all came and in the hustle and bustle that is getting the kids off to school I grabbed the bright red pants that were sticking out of the closet. I ripped the striped shirt off the hanger and thought, "Why not! Let's go full-on prep!" Out came the buckle ballet flats and on went the silver beaded necklace, which I had forgotten about and haven't worn in years. I think I'm in love with it all over again.  It has a certain Mad Men/Masters of Sex feel to it. A smooth low pony and swipe of red gloss completed the … [Read more...]

Scenes From A Weekend- Breaking the Mold

Sometimes you need to move out of your comfort zone. For H that means breaking the mold and love of home parties for the kids. For me and The Fifth Element it means going to a place like Chuck E. Cheese where we have to interact with lots of people, deal with various types of spaces, colors, loud sounds and music and a whole mash-up of multiple whirling activities all at once for hours on end. Heaven for The Comedian getting her birthday party wish, but harder to navigate for The Fifth Element and I and our SPD issues. Feeling perfectly at home even with a large jersey-wearing mouse. … [Read more...]

The Comedian Turns 5

In some ways it seems that it took forever to get here. As the middle child we worry that you would get lost in the shuffle. Accepting what your big sister TD passes down to you, what you learn by her example and what people think you will be like as her sibling. Already. All that worry. It wasn't needed. It all rolls off you like water off a ducks back. … [Read more...]
