Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- Boo at the Zoo with Ugg

Disclosure: TMC was given shoes courtesy of Ugg Australia as well as tickets to Boo at the Zoo as part of review. No compensation was received. Opinions are TMC's only. Why do I love what I do? For moments like the one my family and I enjoyed this past Saturday night when we got the chance to go to the sold-out Boo at the Zoo at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. While I have always wanted to take the girls I wasn't into the whole toting wee ones around in the dark past bedtime, but they are older now. When Ugg Australia contacted me last week asking if the whole family wanted to pick out some new shoes and trek around tricking and treating at the zoo, I did not hesitate. … [Read more...]

Giving In But Not Giving Up

I could feel my temper rising and my nerves flaring up as a bitter little voice in my head screamed, "No school on Tuesday! Again! Really?  I mean come on! That is one of my only two actual work days and I have to keep giving them up?!"  I wanted to scream out loud.  Instead I whispered, "Son of a bitch!" as I glared at The Fifth Element and Comedian's school calendars. I had already forgotten my phone at home that morning due to starting the day with some serious early risers cutting into my fleeting and precious work time. I was frazzled, out of sorts and generally a bit screechy. We left the house in a rush and I cursed to myself on the car ride to school for losing the half hour between drop-off times for both girls where I return emails from my phone.  I try very hard to segment my … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- Away Weekend

You only have to read the last few posts to know that I'm a bit obsessed with fall and all its goodness.  October is my absolute favorite month from the chill in the morning air to the way the sun shines a softer golden color than the white hot heat of summer.  All the colors I love are showcased during this time and my love for Halloween seems to grow more each year.  I'm just itching for the days when I can wear creepy costumes again without freaking out my kids. It is also the perfect time to get away.  H had a work trip down south in the Winston-Salem part of North Carolina. I decided to tag along and check out the changes to the High Point area as I went to school back when overalls and plaid shirts were cool and worn three sizes too big. We tacked on the weekend and headed to … [Read more...]

Beauty Love- Lumene CC Cream & Violent Eyes

I have a deep love for Friday's in October. I can't quite pinpoint the reason but unlike any other time of the year Friday afternoons in October just feel loaded with anticipation. Maybe it goes back to the start of a new school year, high school dances and the feeling of endless possibilities of what the school year could hold. The slight chill in the air, the crisp coldness as the leaves crunch beneath your feet and you take a big breath in of the fall air. It's heaven. Friday beauty love feels almost as good. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- WAPA Rally 2013

Rockland Manor, home of this year's rally It was a ridiculously rainy October day last Friday. The kind that makes you want to shrink back under the covers and call it a day right after a mug of hot tea. Unless of course that day is the annual WAPA (Washington Automotive Press Association) Rally. I'm a fairly new and overly excited member, think Ritalin-infused Chihuahua puppy kind of excited, and this was my first rally. I had no idea what to expect beyond the fact that I was headed into Potomac, Maryland to spend the day driving cars of all types and horsepower. Mmm....horsepower. Like 429 horsepower in the Hyundai Equus. Leather seating, fuel economy, diesel, torque and superior sound systems. All words that get the reaction from me that some women get from designer shoes. Speaking … [Read more...]

Books We Are Reading Right Now

We are a family of book lovers. Reading is a priority in our house from stories at nap time to bedtime and everything in between. The kids have adopted our need to devour books and I'm always willing to check out new titles or head to the library. Actually I think the library sort of hates our family. We come in like a hurricane, grab a bazillion books and leave a whirlwind of dust in our wake. Then six weeks later it happens all over again with a stack of late fees that makes my five year-old self blush with humility. Having late library books is like a mortal sin to me.  The rest of my family feels no shame.  I cringe. This month we are reading a few great titles, some are just perfect for Halloween! Let's explore! … [Read more...]

Beauty Love of the Week: Pacifica Coconut Kiss Lip Butter & blowpro Texture Spray

Two products are up this week. It isn't often that I find two items that I like to use on first test. Many times things get repurposed or serve as a back up to my preferred products but this week blow pro dry texture spray and Pacifica Coconut Kiss Lip Butter ended up front and center on my bathroom counter. They are still there a few weeks later being used daily. After all that do I need to go on? Yes! Let's get to the details then. … [Read more...]

Whatcha Wearing Wednesday- You Say It’s Your Birthday

In honor of my BFF E's birthday today, I'm kickin' it old school with some rather scary photos of fashion past.  Scary in the fact that there is a white sweatpants incident and a lot of shapeless, bland clothing going on.  Thank God I finally embraced color! Don't worry E, you can breathe easy.  I didn't put up any of you just because it is your birthday.   I obviously grew up in a rural area, actually known as a village that didn't have a lot to do most nights.  E and I would spend hours taking craptastic photos of each other doing inane things to quell the boredom and teenage angst.  During these times it was obviously imperative to live in a world free of color?  Geeez, you would think with all the writing I did on my walls as a teen I would have done it with a colored … [Read more...]
