Hershey Half Marathon, Here I Come!

As I stood looking at a Blogher booth display of lace thong style wick-away underpants this weekend I said aloud, "Wow. These would be great for my half-marathon training!"  Another blogger next to me exclaimed, "Oh! I'm training for my first half!  Which one are you doing?" It's done. It's settled.  I'm doing the Hershey Half Marathon on Oct. 21, 2012.  I said it before when I finished my first half-marathon in May that I would do another one.  Then my knee got the best of me, I didn't run for months and I sort of hoped that no one would remember that I ever said those words.  Except that I remembered and I do love a challenge.  Plus, it is Hershey! It is the "Sweetest Place on Earth!"  There are chocolate aid stations! You know, to keep us all motivated and energized and such. … [Read more...]

Heading to #Blogher12? Here are the Rules.

The weekend of Blogher is upon us!  The biggest women's blogging conference world wide. The packing. It's done! I didn't end up packing 8 pairs of shoes! Huzzah! The train! It's here!  Why does it smell so moldy? The Journey.  It's long! For me, at least. Ok. So technically it is only 4 plus hours but when you factor in the hazmat spill that occured before your train even arrives, the automatic delays from train congestion and the people who insist on eating an intensely oinion-filled sandwich for what feels like the entire train trip it feels a whole lot longer.  But, it is worth it, right? … [Read more...]

What I Wore Wednesday

This week's edition had me trying a little harder and going beyond my normal shirt and shorts combo. While I was still running around with the kids I have been perusing fall fashions and decided to make the most of the summer and wear more of my clothes rather than the same old, same old. … [Read more...]

Pony Royale Review

This post is sponsored by Pony Royale. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own. My girls love ponies.  They love things that sparkle and shine.  They also like to collect tiny pieces of glittery objects and stick them to things.  They could be magpies but they are just your typical little girls and this latest toy, Pony Royale was just the type of toy to really get them excited. … [Read more...]

Beauty Blogger of the Week

TMC is starting a new series where we focus on some fantastic beauty bloggers (BB) from all over the country and the world.  I know that I tend to get stuck in a blogger rut where I read the same cherished blog friends and faves over and over. I think this is a wonderful way to promote someone you might not know yet but will definitely love! Meet our first BB! … [Read more...]

The Quick Fit Parent

This week there hasn't been a lot of time to spend at the gym or out running. Let's face it, nothing deters me from an outdoor run more than humidity and we have had plenty of it here. … [Read more...]

On Music & Memories

There is no question that music has power.  It can heal, move and excite in a variety of ways.  It lifts your spirits, charges you up, calms you down (Who just spent 6 hours in a car this past weekend listening to only classical music because that's all The Fifth Element can handle?  I did!) and music can stir up powerful memories. It has the power to bring back moments in time. It can also bring back moments that are absolutely silly and ridiculous. Like the Humpty Dance.  And Burger King bathrooms.  Actually I used to take the ultra chunky and compact Comedian when she was just a few month old blog and make her dance to that song nightly on our counter tops.  Babies.  They are highly entertaining in that way, aren't they? Sitting in the car yesterday I heard Michael Jackson's 'Rock … [Read more...]

The Back to School Chevy Challenge

Yes, I'm talking about going back to school.  I am so excited about it too!  Here's why- I've teamed up with Chevy and their Back to School Challenge to give one lucky, local reader a chance to win a $100 gift card for back to school supplies for their kids! Trust me, when I say I know how much this can do for a family.  When TD was just out of school in June (only last month!) I shelled out $52 for just one kid and her first grade school supplies.  In the next few years I will easily be spending $100 and more when all three girls are in school.  Those supplies did not count back packs or lunch boxes either. … [Read more...]

What I Wore Wednesday

You might call this the bracelet edition.  I knew I liked bracelets but I had no idea until the past few weeks when I started wearing them to add something, anything! to my boring shorts and t-shirt combo that I've been sportin' to take us to Target, the grocery store, playground, spraygrounds, pool and more. … [Read more...]
